Nintendo Switch Online is offering a game from EA for free, but currently only to subscribers in Europe. Players in North America usually get the same free games a few days or a week later, so it should become available to them soon. This time, you don’t need the more expensive Expansion Pack tier to claim the free game – a standard Nintendo Switch Online subscription is all that’s required.
Okay, so here’s the deal: if you’re a Nintendo Switch Online member in Europe – that’s for both my Switch and my new Switch 2 – I can download EA Sports FC 26 completely free right now until June 24th! We get full access to everything. But, heads up, after that date it’ll cost money if you want to keep playing. Luckily, they’re having a massive sale on it until July 2nd – it’s 80% off, bringing the price down to just $11.99 instead of the usual $59.99! It will be replaced by the next version when that comes out around late September or October, but honestly, with the World Cup happening now, the timing is perfect. It’s easily the best soccer game you can get right now, and yep, it even has a World Cup mode which I’m stoked about!
Is It Worth Playing The Switch and Switch 2 Game in 2026?
With a new version of the game coming out soon, now isn’t usually a good time to start playing EA Sports FC. However, the World Cup changes things! Dedicated fans likely already own the game, but this is a great opportunity for more casual players who want to experience the World Cup without buying a full-priced game that will quickly be outdated. Plus, if you enjoy it, you can carry your progress over to the complete version. Just keep in mind it’s a large download – around 35.5 GB.
If you don’t currently have Nintendo Switch Online, you’re in luck! Nintendo is offering a free month to try it out. Plus, a full year of Nintendo Switch Online is very reasonably priced at just $20 – less than many similar services from other companies.
