People are speculating that Nintendo DS games might soon be available on Nintendo Switch Online. It’s true that the DS was built with two screens, which the Switch doesn’t have, so there could be some technical challenges. However, Nintendo could potentially work around this by using on-screen controls or splitting the Switch’s screen in half to mimic the DS experience. If this happens, here are five DS games that should be released first.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Classic Zelda games are a key part of the Nintendo Switch Online service. Every subscription tier includes at least one *The Legend of Zelda* title, offering a fantastic way to play some of Nintendo’s most beloved games. With Zelda games appearing on other retro consoles available through the service – like the N64 and GameCube – itâs likely weâll see them on the DS as well.
Let’s talk about *Phantom Hourglass*. It’s the follow-up to *The Wind Waker*, which was recently added to Nintendo Switch Online. This is a great time to release it, building on the success of *The Wind Waker*. Also, both *Phantom Hourglass* and *Spirit Tracks* have only been playable on the DS, so this is a chance to let more people experience them.
2. Mario & Luigi Bowserâs Inside Story
The *Mario & Luigi* games are fan favorites, and *Brothership* is a particularly excellent addition to the series. It has the potential to reignite interest and lead to future installments. While itâs uncertain if that will happen, Nintendo could also bring back older titles through the Switch Online service.
The Nintendo DS is a great platform for revisiting classic games, and *Bowserâs Inside Story* is a perfect example. Many fans consider it the best game in the series, and one of the best DS games ever made, making it a strong contender for a remake or re-release by Nintendo.
3. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
A *Mario & Sonic* game is currently available on Nintendo Switch, but it’s the disappointing Tokyo Games version. Many consider it the weakest entry in the Summer Olympics games series, though it does let players use their Switch for events like running, swimming, and discus throwing. Unfortunately, there isn’t a similar game for the Winter Olympics.
The Nintendo DS version of *Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games* is now available, and many fans consider it the best version of the game. Adding it to Nintendo Switch Online is a great addition, bringing back a popular series and offering gameplay experiences that were previously missing from the service.
4. Metroid Prime Hunters
The *Metroid* series deserves more attention, and now’s the perfect time for a resurgence. With the popularity of games like *Hollow Knight: Silksong* and the confirmed release of *Metroid Prime 4: Beyond*, the series is gaining momentum. This makes it an ideal moment to revisit *Metroid Prime Hunters*, a truly excellent game originally released on the Nintendo DS.
As the December launch of the new game gets closer, the rest of the year will be a great time to build excitement among *Metroid* fans. This will increase anticipation and give a beloved character the attention they deserve.
5. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of Time
It’s unclear why Nintendo doesn’t include the main *PokĂ©mon* games in its Switch Online service. These classic games would likely be huge hits, but Nintendo seems content to let them remain in the past. Instead, they focus on adding spin-off titles like *PokĂ©mon Snap* or *Colosseum*.
A game like *PokĂ©mon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time* could be a great option for fans. It’s a different take on *PokĂ©mon* that still feels fresh, and this version for the Nintendo DS is generally well-made. It offers that familiar *PokĂ©mon* experience without requiring Nintendo to re-release the main series games, which they’ve currently chosen not to do.
