This morning, an Indie World showcase occurred, providing a platform for various indie games coming to Nintendo Switch by smaller studios to be spotlighted. As usual with these events, Nintendo is releasing several games immediately on the eShop, allowing players to download them straight away. Today’s presentation featured three such games receiving immediate release. Additionally, a demo for the eagerly awaited game, “Mina the Hollower,” developed by Yacht Club Games (creators of “Shovel Knight”), will be accessible today. The following games are now available on the eShop:
Is This Seat Taken?
Upon its release in 2021, the game “Unpacking” demonstrated that organization could indeed be an enjoyable experience. The recently released title, “Is This Seat Taken?”, seems to expand on a similar concept by shifting focus from organizing items to arranging people instead. In this game, players encounter various social scenarios populated with diverse characters, each having specific desires or requirements. It’s the players’ responsibility to determine the most suitable locations for these characters in settings such as limousines, diners, movie theaters, and other venues.
Tiny Bookshop
Indie gaming world features management simulations prominently, and Tiny Bookshop is right there among them. This game lets players establish their own charming, customizable bookstore. They can design it according to their preferences and fill its shelves with books that they think will appeal best to the townsfolk. As they interact with the locals, they’ll learn about their reading tastes and make suitable book recommendations.
UFO 50
Instead of “Is This Seat Taken?” and “Tiny Bookshop,” UFO 50 is a game previously released on PC. But its debut on Nintendo Switch today is exciting news! Since its release last year, UFO 50 has garnered mostly positive reviews on Steam. In fact, this collection features 50 distinct games for players to explore, many of which are reminiscent of the NES era. The diverse selection ensures there’s something for everyone, and several of these games offer multiplayer options as well.
These three games can be played on either the standard Nintendo Switch or the newly released one, Nintendo Switch 2. During the Indie World Showcase, some games were showcased as exclusive to the new platform, but none of today’s releases are exclusive to Switch 2. Although Switch 2 has gained a significant following in just two months, it’s expected that not everyone will upgrade immediately. Based on current trends, the original Nintendo Switch should continue to receive games from both Nintendo and its partners for several years, possibly extending into 2026 and beyond.
