Great news for fans! Netflix has renewed the hit series Nobody Wants This for a third season, less than two weeks after the release of Season 2. Viewers clearly can’t get enough of Joanne and Noah!
The popular romantic comedy series, inspired by creator Erin Foster’s personal experiences, follows a podcast host who’s unsure about religion (Kristen Bell) and a rabbi (Adam Brody) as they fall in love. Despite coming from very different worlds and having different beliefs, they navigate the joys and challenges of a new relationship. The first season premiered on Netflix on September 26, 2024, and quickly received positive feedback, with viewers loving the charming and realistic portrayal of Joanne and Noah’s romance. While the second season received slightly less positive reviews—dropping from a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes to 78%—it was still applauded for its witty writing, excellent actors, and its unique perspective on relationships between people from different backgrounds.
After Netflix decided to bring the show back for another season, creator Foster shared her excitement about starting a third season, saying it’s a real honor to write about the couple on such a large scale. The show’s creators, Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, described working on Nobody Wants This as “criminally fun.”
We’re incredibly thankful to Netflix and 20th Television for renewing Nobody Wants This! It’s been a joy working with the brilliant Erin Foster, as well as our fantastic cast, writers, and crew – everyone is so talented and funny.
Joanne Wrestled With an Important Decision in Season 2

Netflix
Noah and Joanne developed a sweet and loving relationship during the show’s second season, but they still disagreed about Joanne potentially converting to Judaism. Noah hoped she would eventually choose to do so on her own, while Joanne feared he might end the relationship if she didn’t.
Noah and Joanne face a difficult situation because Noah wants Joanne to convert to his religion, but he doesn’t want her to do it just to please him. Joanne, in turn, doesn’t want to change who she is for anyone, but she does want to be with Noah, creating a lot of tension between them, as Bell explained to Tudum.
Foster explained that Joanne was struggling with her decision about converting to a new faith, feeling so desperate to find a reason to do so that she was actually hindering her ability to make a clear choice.
She’s looking for stability and meaning in her life – things like a clear sense of purpose, personal boundaries, strong values, and a connection to tradition. She believes Judaism could offer all of that. While she’s discovering and appreciating aspects of Judaism, she’s playfully worried that simply experiencing them won’t magically make her a member of the faith – she feels like a direct, divine declaration is needed!
Joanne starts to realize she might be ready for a bigger commitment after a meaningful conversation with Noah’s sister-in-law, Esther (Jackie Tohn). Before she can share her feelings with Noah, he reassures her that her religion doesn’t matter to him – he loves her for who she is and considers her his soulmate.
Although Joanne didn’t become a full convert by the season’s end, she’ll probably begin exploring the possibility in Season 3.
