In the Netflix series The Night Agent, Gabriel Basso plays Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent stationed at the White House. He monitors a special, rarely used phone line connected to a top-secret program. After a long period of inactivity, the phone unexpectedly rings, thrusting him into action.
Sutherland unexpectedly becomes involved in a major conspiracy that reaches the top of the U.S. government. By the end of the first season, he’s moved beyond his office job and joined the Night Agent program. Season 2 sees him take on his very first assignment as a Night Agent.
He’s on a mission to prevent a dictator from spreading deadly chemicals. As the season wraps up, Sutherland and his team discover the president is involved in a dangerous network dealing with weapons and illegal funds. This leads to Sutherland being secretly tasked with working as a double agent – a ‘Night Agent’ operating on both sides – in the upcoming third season.
The Night Agent Is One Of Netflix’s Most Popular Action Shows
Netflix’s action series, The Night Agent, has quickly become a hit. The second season premiered at number one on the platform, attracting 13.9 million viewers in its first four days—the period Netflix uses to measure a show’s initial success (according to Variety). The release of season two also brought renewed interest in the first season, and a similar boost is expected when season three arrives.
Currently, “The Night Agent” has an 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and season two is even more popular than the first. The show is fast-paced and skillfully made, blending suspenseful storylines with enjoyable, well-developed characters.
