When I first read the script, I was really disoriented. It was hard to tell what was actually happening versus what was staged. I had to read it several times just to understand the story and figure out what was genuine and what wasn’t. I think that sense of confusion is a key part of the movie.

I believe modern magic is really about working with the audience. It’s changed from the traditional, mysterious, almost spiritual performances of the past. Today, audiences are aware of what’s happening, and they enjoy trying to figure out the tricks. That’s what I find exciting about our show – we’re not simplifying things for them, but instead bringing them along for the experience. Plus, we incorporated some really creative visual effects using our costumes.

Greenblatt expands on Fisher’s points by noting that the director of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, Ruben Fleischer, insisted on using practical effects for all the magic. This meant the actors performed the stunts themselves, learning and practicing real magic tricks as part of the process.

Yes, it was a great experience! Director Ruben Ostlund really prioritized practical effects in this movie. He made us either learn how to do the tricks ourselves or thoroughly rehearse any physical gags, ensuring everything you see happening on screen actually happened in real life. I really appreciated that commitment to realism – it was definitely the highlight for me.

Greenblatt faced a tough task: portraying June as a skilled magician who was secretly part of Charlie’s scheme all along, and capable of fooling both the Horsemen and Veronika. To pull this off, it was crucial for Greenblatt to clearly separate reality from illusion and even learn a few magic tricks herself.

The conclusion of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t reveals that June, Bosco, and Charlie have joined The Eye and are working with the Horsemen. With a fourth movie already planned, it’s likely that Isla Fisher will reprise her role as June. This sets the stage for June to further develop both her magical skills and her character, all while continuing to grapple with illusions and reality in exciting new ways.
