Horror fans had a fantastic 2025, and early previews of the upcoming film ‘Obsession‘ suggest 2026 will be just as exciting.
A man desperate to win over the woman he loves breaks a magical willow tree said to grant wishes. He gets exactly what he wished for, but quickly learns that even true desires can have terrifying consequences.
The movie features Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, and Megan Lawless. It’s directed and written by Curry Barker, who previously made several short films but this is his first full-length feature. Remarkably, the film was made on a budget of less than a million dollars, but after a competitive auction, it was picked up for distribution for over $15 million.
Okay, so “Obsession” is a title that’s been done before – Brian De Palma’s take in ’76 immediately springs to mind, a clear nod to Hitchcock’s “Vertigo.” But after watching the trailer for this “Obsession,” let me tell you, it looks like it’s going in a completely different direction. It’s not the same kind of film at all, and I’m intrigued!
