Off Campus creator reveals what fans can expect from future book adaptations – as show’s future confirmed

Fans who loved Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus series are in luck! The author has shared that she always intended to write several different series featuring these characters and their world.

Off Campus is returning for a second season! But the show is based on a popular book that’s actually part of a five-book series, each focusing on a different romance among hockey players at Briar University.

Louisa Levy, the showrunner and writer, shared with TopMob that she’s eager to adapt as much of the source material as Amazon allows.

“I’m ready to move forward,” Levy stated. “I’m happy to work within the boundaries Amazon sets. I genuinely love these books, and I’ve always envisioned this show having multiple seasons. Ultimately, it depends on whether enough viewers tune in to convince Amazon to keep the series going.”

I truly believe young romance is perfect for TV! It’s not just about hockey players finding love, but all those stories that capture what it’s like to be a teen – that messy, awkward time when you’re not a kid anymore, but definitely not a grown-up yet. There’s so much potential there!

She believes this story would work really well as a TV show, and that it allows viewers to truly connect with and feel like they know the characters.

I really want this show to feel comforting, like a warm hug or listening to a beloved song on repeat. When I read the books, that’s what it felt like – spending time with friends. That’s the feeling I was hoping to capture with the show.

I hope college students in the audience feel understood. Maybe even younger viewers will be inspired by the college experience, and those of us who’ve already graduated can enjoy a bit of nostalgia.

To be honest, before I joined the project, I hadn’t read Kennedy’s books, even though they were huge bestsellers. But let me tell you, I quickly changed that! I absolutely devoured the entire series, actually read through them several times, before I even started working on the script. I needed to really know those stories.

Levy admitted she wasn’t familiar with the books beforehand. She’s a huge romance reader, and once she learned about the project, she quickly read and became passionate about them.

I’ll be honest, I initially listened to these as an audiobook at double speed because I wanted to finish them before a meeting, and I immediately loved them. I’ve since had the chance to listen at a normal pace and read them repeatedly. I’m a huge fan of the content.

Although some of the actors didn’t know about the BookTok community or the popularity of romance novels featuring hockey players, everyone is excited to come back for more seasons and continue filming on the ice.

Mika Abdalla, who plays Allie – Hannah’s best friend – is excited about returning for another season. She enjoys playing Allie and loves working with the cast and crew, describing the set as a positive and supportive environment.

You can now watch Off Campus on Prime Video. New customers can start a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime to access it.

I’m so excited about ‘Add Off Campus’ and I’ve added it to my watchlist on the TopMob: What to Watch app! You should definitely download the app too – it gives you daily TV recommendations and all sorts of cool features. It’s a great way to stay up-to-date on everything happening in TV!
