Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the One Piece manga. The One Piece manga is nearing the end of the long-awaited God Valley flashback and will soon reveal what happened to Harald. The story quickly turns chaotic when Luffy and his crew arrive in the land of the Giants, as the Holy Knights launch a surprise attack, taking children hostage. Before Luffy can get involved, the story flashes back to Harald, the most powerful and respected king in Elbaph’s history. We then see his life unfold, going back over 100 years to explore his journey from a wild youth to a legendary ruler, before finally uncovering the mystery of his death 14 years ago at Aurust Castle.
Harald’s quest to improve Elbaph led him to cross paths with Rocks D. Xebec, a famously powerful pirate. The story then briefly focuses on Xebec and his crew, revealing the full story behind the God Valley Incident. As more of the past is uncovered, One Piece is set to show the official character design of Rocks D. Xebec, bringing a long-held fan theory back into the spotlight.

Before it was revealed that Blackbeard was the son of Xebec, many fans believed Buggy had a connection to the famous pirate. This idea gained traction when it was discovered that Xebec’s wanted poster looked identical to Buggy’s – a detail too precise to be accidental. While the story hasn’t offered further clues to support Buggy being Xebec’s son, the recent revelation about Blackbeard has given fans even more reason to continue speculating.
It’s strange to think about Buggy, one of the very first villains we met in One Piece, now being a Yonko – one of the most powerful pirates! There’s been a theory floating around that he’s connected to the mysterious D. Clan, but it always felt a bit shaky. Now, with the God Valley arc wrapping up and the story shifting to Harald’s backstory before heading to Elbaf, it looks like we won’t be seeing much of Buggy for a while. It’s a bit odd, considering everyone expects him to play a big role when the story finally reaches its climax.
