Offset Takes the Stage in Wheelchair to Perform Days After Being Shot

Offset is on the road to recovery.

The rapper, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, performed live for the first time in almost a week, following a shooting incident outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Offset quickly returned to performing live on April 11th at the University of Arkansas’ Rowfest, just hours after being discharged from the hospital. Despite arriving on stage in a wheelchair – as he showed in an Instagram video – the 34-year-old rapper didn’t let his injury stop him from putting on a show.

Offset, the rapper known for “Open It Up,” was wheeled onto the stage. He was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, black pants, a hat, and a skeleton face mask. Once positioned, he stood up and performed several of his songs, including Migos’ hit, “Bad and Boujee,” for the student audience.

The artist, known for his work with Culture, posted videos and photos from the performance on his Instagram account on April 12th. He shared pictures of what he wore and captioned the post with the words “REAL LOVE” and a red heart emoji.

Oh my gosh, a few hours later he DROPPED even MORE photos! This time from a pool photoshoot, and it was just… perfect. The caption was so simple – “God is good. Thank you.” – but it felt so him, you know? Like he’s genuinely grateful, and sharing a little piece of his happiness with us. I seriously couldn’t stop looking!

As a dad myself, I always say family life can be… a lot! Offset, who shares seven kids – including Kulture, Wave, and little Blossom – recently had a health scare. He was briefly hospitalized on April 6 with some injuries that, thankfully, weren’t life-threatening, according to police reports. It just reminds you to cherish every moment and prioritize well-being, for yourself and those you love.

After the shooting, the Seminole Police Department told TopMob News that rapper Lil Tjay, whose real name is Tione Merritt, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, which is a minor crime in Florida.

Police have also held a second person, but haven’t filed any charges against them yet. The investigation is still underway to find anyone else who may have been involved. The person who was hurt is recovering at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Although Lil Tjay faced a charge for driving without a valid license, his lawyer, Dawn Florio, stated he wasn’t involved in the incident with Offset, according to records from TopMob News.

On April 7th, a representative clarified on Instagram that Lil Tjay was not shot and has not been charged with any shooting-related crimes. They stated that reports claiming otherwise are inaccurate and urged people to check reliable news outlets and confirm information before sharing unverified rumors.

Lil Tjay is out on a $3,000 bond for both charges and is pending trial.

After being discharged from the hospital, Offset shared his thanks for all the support he’s gotten.

Hey everyone, just wanted to give a quick update! I’ve been so touched by all the love and support I’ve received lately – thank you! I’m doing okay right now, but honestly, I’m really focused on leveling up and becoming the best version of myself. It means a lot to have you all along for the journey!

He shared that he’s prioritizing his family and his health, and is eager to return to making music. He’s come to understand that life is a mix of small successes and big setbacks. Ultimately, he sees life as a risk worth taking, and he’s determined to succeed.
