If you were reared with a PlayStation 1 or a SEGA Saturn, it’s likely that you were indulging in the delightful world of rally gaming.
On the SEGA Saturn console, the outstanding SEGA Rally Championship claimed the first spot. It stood out due to its thrilling arcade-style handling and stunningly detailed polygonal graphics.
However, the PlayStation held its own in this regard as well, and Codemasters’ timeless Colin McRae Rally remains an enjoyable game even now. Interestingly enough, its influence continues through the DIRT franchise, a series that we continue to appreciate.
If you’re yearning for a taste of the past, then Old School Rally might just satisfy your craving.

This vintage racer, featuring an imitation Subaru Impreza painted in a striking combination of purple and lime green, carries an unmistakable air of yesteryears, reminiscent of games on the PlayStation 1.
As a gamer eagerly waiting for new releases, I’m excited to share that this game is heading to both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 later this year. If you can’t wait either, there’s a demo available right now on the PlayStation Store for an early taste!
For a while now, the game has been offered on Steam, and it’s generally garnered quite favorable feedback from users.
Here’s how the developer describes it:
Old School Rally offers rapid, arcade-style play with an emphasis on driving proficiency and daring maneuvers. Its aesthetics, inspired by ’90s rally games, are meticulously designed to evoke nostalgia and appeal, making it a game that enthusiasts shouldn’t miss.
In a truly impressive fashion, the team managed to emulate the aesthetic of the 32-bit era, complete with rough textures and simplistic vehicle designs. The entire game boasts race tracks from various global locations, each offering distinct atmospheres and personalities.
There’s no official release date just yet, but it’s due out later this year.
