Olivia Wilde Details Conversation That Led to Jason Sudeikis Breakup

Olivia Wilde is detailing a conversation with Jason Sudeikis that changed everything. 

Oh my gosh, can you believe it’s been six years since Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis split? I’ve been following their story forever, and Olivia just revealed something so telling! Apparently, there was this one specific moment – she didn’t say exactly what it was, but it made both of them realize, after almost ten years together, that it was over. It’s just… heartbreaking, honestly, but also fascinating to hear how things finally ended for them.

Wilde explained on the June 17th episode of Call Her Daddy that she remembers the date because it was her birthday – March 10, 2020. She and Jason were going through a difficult period in their relationship at the time, describing it as a very rocky patch.

She was 42 years old at the time, and a mom to Otis, 12, and Daisy, 9, with Jason Sudeikis. She remembers they were on their way home from a birthday party her friends had organized for her.

Wilde remembered asking if he’d gotten her a birthday gift. He responded by saying he didn’t know her well enough to choose something, and she admitted he was right – they’d grown apart and no longer truly knew each other.

The House alum admitted that it was at that moment that both she and Sudeikis “realized it was over.”

She admitted it was incredibly difficult. It led them to the point where they decided to end things and move on.

As Wilde explained, their breakup was delayed by unexpected circumstances – the COVID lockdown started just two days after they decided to split.

TopMob News reached out to reps for Sudeikis regarding Wilde’s comments but has not yet heard back. 

Indeed, Wilde and Sudeikis’ split was not confirmed until November 2020. 

Things weren’t easy at first, of course. Wilde acknowledged that it was painful to have their split become public, particularly because of the different expectations placed on them compared to others.

I remember it being Thanksgiving, and we were going through a separation. I had the kids with me, as it was my scheduled time with them. Everything seemed normal – the kids were happy and with me. Meanwhile, Jason was photographed with his new girlfriend on a beach in Costa Rica, and the media celebrated his happiness.

Olivia Wilde, who received criticism for beginning a relationship with Harry Styles soon after her split from Jason Sudeikis, explained that he wasn’t doing anything wrong by taking a vacation with his new partner. However, she admitted it was still shocking and upsetting for her.

Wilde thought to herself, ‘If I were separated from my children on a holiday, enjoying myself on a beach, people would demand I be severely punished.’ She imagined they’d want her ‘taken away and completely destroyed.’

Despite what others might think, Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde have successfully figured out how to co-parent their children.

I truly appreciate having dedicated time with my children, being fully focused on them. It’s important to me to be completely present with them, and then be able to rely on their other capable parent to also be fully engaged when they’re together. That allows me the freedom to really dedicate myself to my work.
