Ryan Lochte is jumping into a sea of change.
More than a year after his wife, Kayla Reid, filed for divorce after seven years of marriage, the Olympic medalist—who has won 12 medals—announced he’s starting a new job as an assistant swim coach at Missouri State University.
Ryan’s new job isn’t his only big change. In a video announcing his teaching position on Instagram, he looked noticeably different than he did during his swimming days at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Forty-one-year-old father of Caiden (8), Liv (7), and Georgia (2), with his wife Kayla, used to keep a neat appearance with a shaved face and styled hair. Now, he sports a scruffy beard and hair styled with gel and spikes.
Plus, like Ryan’s appearance, his interests have changed over time.
You know, I’ve had a real revelation lately. Over the past couple of years, I’ve discovered something surprising about myself. I’m finding I actually get more excited about coaching swimmers than I ever did competing! I had a good run as an athlete, definitely, but honestly, I think I’m even better at helping others achieve their swimming goals. It’s a really fulfilling shift, and I’m loving it.
He explained that he’d switched from swimming to coaching, saying, “I traded my goggles for a stopwatch, and honestly, it suits me.”
Ryan received a lot of supportive comments, including a sweet message from his girlfriend, Molly Gilliham. She wrote, “I love you. I’m so incredibly proud of you – you were born to do this! Congratulations, my love!”

It appears the former star of Traitors is experiencing a lot of change. He revealed in January that he and his children had moved in with Molly, who also has three children from a previous relationship.
Ryan shared with People magazine that he’s found love with someone who shares his values and also has three children. They’ve blended their families, creating a household of six kids. He describes his partner as his best friend and says their children have quickly become close, making the decision to live together feel natural and right.
And the new couple couldn’t be happier.
Ryan explained they decided to move to a larger house to accommodate their combined family. Their priority is building a warm and secure home for all of their kids.

Many people consider him the best basketball player ever, so it’s no surprise that his sons, Jeffrey Jordan and Marcus Jordan, wanted to become players too. After playing in high school, Jeffrey Jordan went on to college basketball at the University of Illinois and then the University of Central Florida, hoping to make a name for himself outside of his famous father’s legacy.
In 2005, Jeffrey told The Washington Post that he knew he wasn’t among the best players in his state, but he was determined to prove he deserved to compete and wasn’t just relying on his reputation.
While studying at UCF, Marcus also played basketball, and he says his father was instrumental in helping him find his direction in life.
He shared advice whenever I needed it, but mostly he emphasized the importance of staying focused and working hard, believing that effort would eventually lead to success, he told The Gainesville Sun in 2011.

Bronny James (born LeBron James Jr. on October 6, 2004) played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon in the San Fernando Valley and later went on to attend the University of Southern California.
LeBron’s busy NBA schedule has often made it difficult for him to attend all of his son Bronny’s games, but he’s always made a real effort to be there. He once even chartered a private plane on a day off just to watch Bronny’s team, Sierra Canyon, play against his old high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary, in Akron, Ohio.
LeBron told reporters that watching his son play against his former college team was a really special and unbelievable experience, feeling like everything had come full circle.
In June 2024, Bronny James was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, creating an unprecedented moment: he and his father, LeBron James, became the first father-son pair to play in the NBA simultaneously.
LeBron James’s younger son, Bryce James, began his college basketball career at the University of Arizona in 2025.

Rounding out the Sierra Canyon team of all-stars is Zaire Wade, the oldest son of former Miami Heat player, Dwyane Wade.
Zaire, who joined the team in December 2019 after transferring from Florida, explained to Yahoo! Sports that they’re learning to deal with all the attention. He said cameras follow them everywhere, and while he’s used to being in the spotlight, this level of coverage is unlike anything he’s experienced before.
In April 2020, Zaire announced on Instagram that he was transferring to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, Florida, because he wasn’t getting enough playing time.
Zaire was drafted 10th overall in the 2021 NBA G League draft by the Salt Lake City Stars. He later played for the Cape Town Tigers in the Basketball Africa League and, in April 2024, signed with a team in the ASEAN Basketball League.

Former football player Cha’iel Johnson might be surpassed by his own daughter’s athletic achievements. She’s a talented track and field runner who won the 800-meter race at the 2017 AAU Junior Olympics when she was just 12 years old.
She initially competed for St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida, and then went on to join the University of Kentucky’s athletic program.

One of the NBA legend’s sons, standing 6-foot-10, played basketball at UCLA. His college career was cut short when he needed heart surgery due to a medical condition.
He sat out the 2018-19 season after leaving his California school and then transferred to Louisiana State University (LSU). LSU famously honors its alumni, including Shaq, with a 900-pound bronze statue outside the basketball practice facility.
After finishing his college basketball career at LSU in 2022, the player joined the NBA G League Ignite, a team designed to develop young basketball talent.

Shaquille O’Neal’s daughter, who is 6-foot-2, committed to play basketball at LSU in 2020, joining her brother Shareef on the team.
Choosing what to do after high school is a really big decision, and I’ve finally made mine,” she said. “I’m a little nervous about the future, but I’m also ready for what’s next. I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve committed to playing a sport at LSU with my brother, Shareef O’Neal, and I can’t wait to spend the next four years as a Tiger. I’m so thankful for this opportunity.
I’m so excited to share that I joined the basketball team at Texas Southern University for the 2021-2022 season! It was a fantastic opportunity and I really enjoyed being a part of their program.

The oldest daughter of a two-time NBA All-Star played basketball with Izela Arenas, daughter of Gilbert Arenas, while they both attended Sierra Canyon school.
In a December 2020 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Randolph described his time playing for Michigan State coach Tom Izzo. He said Izzo was a tough, demanding coach who pushed his male players hard. Randolph noted that female players were different, explaining they often appealed to Izzo’s nurturing side, saying things like, ‘Dad, I’m trying,’ and that Izzo clearly had a soft spot for them.
MacKenly joked that she’d won against her father three times in their one-on-one matchups, adding that he doesn’t bother trying to defend himself.

Terique, the 6’3″ son of an NFL Hall of Famer, initially joined Florida Atlantic University’s football team as a walk-on in 2019. He spent most of his childhood playing basketball before deciding to pursue football as a teenager. He first played college football at Contra Costa Community College before transferring to FAU.
After his college football career, Terique signed with the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad.

A Sierra Canyon High School alum, he was a four-year starter and led his team to two state championships. He then played college basketball at Vanderbilt University before joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 2022 with a two-way contract.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE it! After playing with the South Bay Lakers for a little while, Scotty Jr. finally signed a real NBA contract with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2024! A two-way contract, yes, but still! He’s officially a Grizzly! I’m so excited for him; he deserves this so much!

Michael Jordan, the legendary Chicago Bulls player and five-time NBA champion, is also a father.
Dennis Rodman Jr., also known as DJ, was a high school athlete at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach, California, playing both basketball and football. He initially played college basketball at Washington State University before transferring to the University of Southern California in 2023.
After a game in 2017, his high school coach, Ryan Schachter, told the Orange County Register that he was a talented player who hadn’t gotten much recognition in Southern California.
After his college career, DJ joined Capital City Go-Go of the NBA G League in 2024.

While Dennis Rodman’s son followed in his footsteps by playing basketball, his daughter, Trinity Rodman, chose a different sport: soccer. After her first college season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, she turned professional in 2021, joining the Washington Spirit. In 2022, she also made the United States Women’s National Soccer Team.
In 2024, Trinity won Olympic gold as part of Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

It’s not surprising that Tiger Woods’ son is a talented golfer. Charlie Woods first appeared on television playing golf with his dad at the 2020 PNC Championship when he was just 11 years old.
Asked about practicing his golf swing before playing with his son, the 15-time major champion admitted he hadn’t. He said he wasn’t focused on his own game, but on making sure his son, Charlie, had a great time and enjoyed the experience.
