One MCU Hero Could Be the Key to Saving the Multiverse (& They’ve Only Suited Up Once)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t just filled with super-powered beings like gods and super soldiers. Ordinary people often rise to the occasion when faced with impossible challenges and a desire to do what’s right. Scott Lang is a perfect example – he started as a small-time criminal before discovering the Ant-Man suit. With the help of Hank Pym and Hope van Dyne, he realized he could truly make a difference. In fact, the entire universe owes Scott Lang a huge debt, because he was the one who pulled the Avengers out of their despair after the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War.

There’s nothing more heroic than saving one universe, but saving all of them is the ultimate feat – and someone will have to rise to the challenge in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday. The movie already boasts a team of proven heroes, but surprisingly, one individual who could potentially be the most effective savior isn’t currently slated to appear. The catch? They’ve only fought as a hero once before and might not be eager to do it again.

Avengers: Endgame Is an All Hands on Deck Situation

When Scott Lang returns from the Quantum Realm in Endgame, he goes to the Avengers compound to share a surprising discovery: time travel is real. Captain America and Black Widow are immediately eager to use this to undo Thanos’s damage, and after some persuading, Iron Man agrees to help. They gather everything they need and travel to different times to collect the Infinity Stones, hoping to reverse Thanos’s snap. The mission works – everyone who disappeared returns safely. However, their celebration is short-lived, as another version of Thanos quickly launches an attack.

The Avengers’ headquarters is destroyed, and things look bleak after Thor and Iron Man are badly injured in a fight. But just when it seems like all is lost, portals open, bringing reinforcements to the battle. Everyone who can fight joins in, and even ordinary people rush to help, refusing to stand by and do nothing. Pepper Potts is among them, putting on her Rescue armor to fight with her husband, Tony Stark. She’s right there when he uses the Infinity Stones to finally win the battle. Seeing that incredible act would make anyone consider retirement, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe might need Pepper’s help again in the future.

Pepper Potts Will Find Herself in a Unique Position in Avengers: Doomsday

It’s understandable that Pepper hasn’t been seen since Tony’s funeral. She’s focused on raising her daughter, Morgan, who’s growing up without her father, and doesn’t want to risk her own safety when so many others can help. As the head of Stark Industries, she’s likely busy managing the company and continuing Tony’s work to rebuild after years of turmoil. However, a new threat – a villain named Doomsday – is about to target everything Tony built, and Pepper may be forced to get involved.

Everyone knows Robert Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom, and that’s a connection the Marvel Cinematic Universe will definitely explore. The MCU will likely use this to unsettle established heroes like Thor and Spider-Man by having them face a villain who seems familiar. These heroes will quickly realize that Doom isn’t someone you can talk down, though they’ll still try. It would be best for them to let Pepper Potts take the lead in negotiations, as Doom probably knows her, or someone who looks just like her, given his background. While trying to appeal to a villain’s good side is a classic tactic, it’s worth attempting when the stakes are so high.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
