A highly anticipated game slated for release in 2026 will not be available on Xbox Series X when it first launches. While a version for Xbox isn’t entirely ruled out for the future, the game will initially be exclusive to PC and PlayStation 5, giving Sony another advantage. Xbox fans are understandably upset, as this is becoming a common issue for the console, with several major games skipping it.
Konami has successfully revived the Silent Hill series, which many believed had peaked with its early 2000s releases on the PlayStation 2. The 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2, developed by Bloober Team, brought the series back into the spotlight, and 2025’s Silent Hill f continued that success. Both games are considered among the best horror titles for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, creating a lot of excitement for the upcoming Silent Hill Townfall.
Xbox Fans Left “Disappointed”
Konami, Annapurna Interactive, and Screen Burn Interactive have announced that Silent Hill Townfall will be released in 2026. While a specific date isn’t available yet, the game is confirmed to come out this year. However, it won’t be available on Xbox Series X when it initially launches.
It’s no surprise that a popular post on the Xbox Reddit page right now expresses disappointment that the new horror game won’t be available on Xbox Series X, with many calling the decision unfair. The post has gained a lot of traction, suggesting many Xbox fans feel the same way, and comments are further emphasizing this frustration.
One commenter wrote, “We all made the wrong choice with our consoles.” Another pointed out that Xbox has fewer users, and that more game developers might face similar issues in the future.
Some people believe this is likely due to Sony paying Konami to make the game temporarily exclusive to PlayStation. Sony has been known to do this in the past, though there’s currently no concrete evidence to confirm it’s happening in this case.
