The dBrand Killswitch is one of my go-to accessories for handheld devices. It’s a snug, rubber case that offers better protection and a more secure grip, plus it includes a built-in kickstand.
Recently, dBrand announced a new case called Killswitch for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. It’s officially certified by Xbox and is available for purchase at Best Buy and on dBrand’s website.
What makes the dBrand Killswitch so good?

If you have a handheld gaming PC, you probably realize that the right accessories can greatly improve your experience. I found this to be true when I tested dBrand’s Killswitch accessories with my Steam Deck, the original ROG Ally, and the ROG Ally X.
I’ve been really impressed with how well the Killswitch cases fit my other handheld devices – they’re custom-shaped for a perfect fit. I’m hoping the new version for the Xbox Ally and Ally X will be just as well-designed, and it looks promising since it’s now officially certified for Xbox.
If you’re not familiar with Killswitch cases, let me explain what I like about them. They’re made of a textured rubber that feels much more secure to hold than a typical plastic case, reducing the risk of drops. Plus, you can still easily access all the ports, buttons, and vents, so your device works perfectly as usual.
This rubber material helps protect my handheld gaming device, and the removable screen cover provides a sleek layer of defense – it’s much less bulky than a full carrying case. This gives me peace of mind knowing it’s better protected from minor drops and bumps while I’m on the go.
I actually removed a protective accessory, the Killswitch, from my original ROG Ally X when I upgraded, but I immediately put it back on before a work trip. I really wanted that extra protection for my expensive device.

I really appreciate that the Killswitch includes a kickstand for my handheld devices, and I’d love to see the same feature added to the Xbox Ally.
I’ve talked before about how important kickstands are for handheld devices. They really make a big difference, transforming a device primarily used for gaming into a more versatile entertainment option.
I use the Killswitch kickstand to easily hold up my device on a table, which is great for watching Netflix without needing my hands. I’ve also found it really useful in the kitchen – I can prop my device on the counter to view recipes while I’m cooking.
A kickstand makes handheld devices feel more like traditional PCs. I’ve been able to attach a keyboard and touchpad to my handhelds once they’re propped up, allowing me to comfortably write documents on them.
If you’re looking for extra protection, better grip, or a kickstand for your Xbox Ally or Ally X, a dBrand Killswitch case is a great option.
