As a critic, I was thrilled to see The Night Manager return after ten years! The first season was fantastic, and the new episodes, which dropped in January, have been a huge success. It’s quickly become one of the most-watched shows on Prime Video, right up there with hits like Beast Games and Fallout. Hiddleston, Laurie, and Coleman are all brilliant, and it’s a spy thriller that really delivers.
Prime Video’s spy thriller The Night Manager, based on the 1993 John le Carré novel, is currently a hit. The show stars Tom Hiddleston, who won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Jonathan Pine – a former soldier and hotel night manager recruited by MI-6 to take down a dangerous arms dealer. Originally released as a limited series in 2016, The Night Manager returned with new episodes on January 11th. According to FlixPatrol, it’s now the third most popular show on Prime Video globally, surpassing other top series like The Summer I Turned Pretty, Surely Tomorrow, and Spartacus: House of Ashur.
The Night Manager Season 2 Was Worth the 10-Year Wait
When The Night Manager first came out in 2016, it quickly became one of Prime Video’s most popular and well-regarded shows, and a standout spy thriller of recent years. The first season brilliantly adapted John le Carré’s novel with a movie-like feel and a gripping, gradually unfolding story. Filled with lavish settings, political maneuvering, suspense, and action, it was incredibly easy to watch all at once. The entire cast gave excellent performances, making The Night Manager a truly sophisticated drama and the wait for a second season feel incredibly long – but the payoff was well worth it.
Season 2 of The Night Manager started with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, and while it’s dropped slightly, it still maintains a very high 91% rating – the same as the first season. Critics agree that the new season is a compelling and successful continuation, delivering the suspense and excitement of the original with a new story that feels both fresh and familiar. Olly Richards of Empire Magazine called it “fast-paced and tons of fun,” questioning why a sequel hadn’t been made sooner. Nick Hilton of The Independent gave it 4 out of 5 stars, praising its ability to be gripping without being over-the-top and compelling without being too intellectual, noting that it understands its audience and successfully recreates what made the first season work. Critics have also lauded Tom Hiddleston’s return as Jonathan Pine, as well as the strong performances and chemistry of new cast members Camila Morrone and Diego Calva.
Will There Be a The Night Manager Season 3?
Great news! Season 3 of The Night Manager is officially happening. According to director Georgi Banks-Davies, who spoke with Variety, creator David Farr is currently writing the new season. Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait another ten years to see it.
As a huge fan of The Night Manager, I’m thrilled to share that the first three episodes of Season 2 are already available on Prime Video! If you’re planning to watch, new episodes will drop every Sunday at 3 a.m. Eastern Time, with the finale arriving on February 1st. So set your alarms and get ready for a gripping ride!
