It’s frustrating when fantastic movies don’t get the attention they deserve. Even films with talented actors, acclaimed directors, and a unique visual style can sometimes be overlooked. That recently happened to Damien Chazelle, the director of La La Land, but his latest film is now available on Netflix, giving many people a chance to discover it.
The movie Babylon, featuring Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, became available on Netflix this Sunday, giving it the potential to reach a wider audience than ever before. With its famous actors and lavish style, now might be the time Babylon finally gains the dedicated fanbase it deserves.
The movie Babylon takes place in 1920s Hollywood, during the exciting and chaotic shift from silent films to talkies. Everyone in the story is affected by this change, and the film itself feels like a wild, unbelievable dream you have to experience to understand.
Despite being a visually ambitious film, Babylon wasn’t well-received when it came out. Critics and audiences didn’t connect with it, and it performed poorly in theaters, earning less than $65 million—far short of its production costs.
I always felt like Babylon was special, and I wasn’t alone – a lot of us believed it would find its audience eventually. It’s a shame the initial release didn’t go well, but I’m really hoping this addition to Netflix is exactly what it needs to finally reach the viewers it deserves.
What’s New on Netflix?
Netflix added the movie Babylon on Sunday, continuing a recent trend of adding many new titles. The streaming service launched dozens of new movies and shows on December 1st, including popular choices like A League of Their Own and Kung Fu Panda.

Okay, so here’s what I’ve been watching lately! I’ve really enjoyed everything from classic comedies like A League of Their Own and Stripes to more recent films like Brightburn and The Wolf of Wall Street. I’m a big fan of the Kung Fu Panda series – I’ve watched all three! I also love a good period piece, so Downton Abbey and Little Women were right up my alley. And when I’m in the mood for something lighter, Cheaper by the Dozen is always a fun watch. On Netflix, I’ve been keeping up with Love is Blind: Italy, and I’m fascinated by the documentary All The Empty Rooms. For family time, CoComelon Lane is a hit, and I’ve also been enjoying the series Playing Gracie Darling and My Next Guest with David Letterman and Adam Sandler. Oh, and I’ve got to mention Victoria – I’ve watched the first three seasons! There’s a little bit of everything for everyone, really – even a bit of Godzilla when I’m feeling adventurous. I even checked out Troll 2 – you gotta see it to believe it! And if you need a laugh, Big Momma’s House and The Ugly Truth are always good for a chuckle. Finally, I was also surprised by What Lies Beneath and Zero Dark Thirty – really gripping films.
