It’s frustrating when a movie or show you love vanishes from streaming services, and Netflix users are facing that disappointment now. A critically acclaimed horror series is leaving Netflix soon, even before its final season becomes available. That means fans have just a few days left to watch all the previous episodes.
As a critic, I’m sad to report that Evil is leaving Netflix at the end of the year. The first three seasons – a really compelling supernatural drama created by Robert and Michelle King, and starring Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Aasif Mandvi as a team investigating strange occurrences for the Catholic Church – have been available since last December. While the show recently concluded its run in February 2024, fans shouldn’t expect the fourth and final season to appear on the platform. Sadly, all 36 episodes of the currently streaming seasons will be gone on December 31st.
Evil Was Canceled Far Too Soon, and Even Stephen King Agrees
Man, I was so bummed when Evil got canceled. It only lasted four seasons, from 2019 to 2024, and that felt way too short for a show as good as it was. Seriously, critics and audiences both loved it – it consistently got amazing reviews, averaging around 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. And the last two seasons, Seasons 3 and 4? Both were 100% fresh! It’s a real shame it didn’t get more time.
This horror series is remarkably well-done, easily ranking among the best TV has offered recently. It skillfully blends supernatural elements with psychological and scientific reasoning, presenting each case as a mystery with possible explanations rooted in both faith and logic, all while still being genuinely scary. The show’s central characters – a skeptical psychologist, a priest-in-training, and a tech specialist – are a compelling and engaging team, and the actors deliver performances that make even the most unbelievable events feel real.
It’s no surprise fans were upset when Evil was cancelled, and they quickly started a campaign to get it renewed for a fifth season. Even Stephen King, the author of classic horror stories like Carrie, The Shining, and Misery, publicly supported the show, praising its intelligence, scares, and the strong connection between the three main characters. He described the show as “joyful” and even directly asked Paramount+ to reconsider its decision on X (formerly Twitter) in August 2024, simply stating, “More EVIL, please.” Unfortunately, despite the dedicated fan efforts, it appears Evil won’t be returning.
Where to Stream Evil After It Leaves Netflix?
It’s disappointing that Evil is leaving Netflix, but fans will still be able to watch it! All four seasons – all 50 episodes – will be available on Paramount+, which is now the show’s official streaming home.
