If you love sitcoms, today is a fantastic day! A beloved classic is returning to television after 16 years, with the first two episodes now available to stream on Hulu. Sitcoms have always been a TV staple, offering comforting stories and plenty of laughs. While shows like Seinfeld, Friends, and The Office are endlessly rewatched, fans of this particular show can finally enjoy brand new episodes!
Great news for fans – Scrubs is back! The beloved medical comedy, which originally aired on NBC and ABC from 2001 to 2009, returned for a tenth season on ABC on Wednesday. You can also watch the first two episodes now on Hulu, starting February 26th. Created by the original showrunner, Bill Lawrence, this new season brings back familiar faces like Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke, along with other stars from the series, as they guide a fresh group of medical interns at Sacred Heart Hospital.
The Scrubs Revival Is a Near-Perfect Nostalgic Return To Sacred Heart Hospital
Still unsure about the new Scrubs season? Early reviews are overwhelmingly positive! Critics and viewers are calling it a surprising success, and it’s currently scoring very high on Rotten Tomatoes – 89% from critics and a perfect 100% from audiences. While these scores could change as more people watch, it’s already one of the best-received seasons of the show, a significant step up from the less popular Season 9 (which only received scores of 53% and 35%).
What makes the Scrubs revival work so well? It doesn’t try to change the formula of a show people already loved. While it’s a big step up from Season 9, which awkwardly introduced new characters, this revival feels like a natural continuation of the original story, picking up 16 years later. It successfully combines what made the early seasons great – the mix of quirky humor and heartfelt moments, plus the fantastic chemistry of the original cast – with relevant, modern themes. This creates a revival that feels both nostalgic and new. Ultimately, it’s a thoughtful and touching continuation that focuses on how the characters have grown and are now navigating life and mentoring a new group of interns.
Will There Be a Scrubs Revival Season 2?
The recently released Scrubs revival is already getting great reviews from both critics and viewers, which is encouraging for its future. While ABC hasn’t said anything about continuing the show beyond this season, creator Bill Lawrence has indicated he’d like to make another season, and even hinted to Deadline that original cast member Ken Jenkins might return if it’s renewed.
The Scrubs revival is back with new episodes airing Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC. You can also watch them the next day on Hulu.
