As a horror fan, I’ve seen zombies stumble across the screen for nearly a century, and it’s fascinating how they’ve changed. They started as these kind of spooky, voodoo-controlled figures, but now they’re the fast, terrifying creatures we all know and fear. From the groundbreaking Night of the Living Dead to the more recent 28 Days Later films, zombie movies consistently grab my attention. And now, zombie lovers are in luck! Two of the best in the genre, the 2009 film and its sequel, just landed on Peacock this February, and trust me, they’re worth checking out.
I’m so excited that Zombieland and Zombieland: Double Tap are now streaming on Peacock! Seriously, these movies are classics. Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin are hilarious as this unlikely family just trying to survive a zombie apocalypse while road-tripping across America. The first one is about them searching for a safe haven, and the second one? They head to Graceland and run into even more dangerous zombies – these ones are faster, smarter, and seem impossible to kill! Even if you’ve seen them a million times like me, they’re totally worth rewatching.
Zombieland Is a Splatter-Fest That Keeps Getting Better
It’s rare for a movie to truly stand out, but Zombieland absolutely deserves the praise it gets. While it didn’t create the zombie genre, it definitely helped popularize it by combining thrilling, over-the-top zombie action with clever humor and a fun set of rules for surviving the apocalypse. What makes Zombieland truly special, though, isn’t just the scares and laughs. It’s also a heartwarming story about four unlikely people who become a family. All of this combined turned a small, low-budget film into a beloved cult classic that people still enjoy today.
It’s been almost twenty years since Zombieland first came out, and it remains a hilarious and enjoyable film, even after many viewings. The movie is a classic of modern horror-comedy, and its sequel, Double Tap, was even more popular with audiences, earning an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes compared to the original’s 86%. With Double Tap released in 2019, the franchise has continued to build momentum, and director Ruben Fleischer has hinted that a third Zombieland movie is being discussed, potentially arriving in 2029.
What’s New on Peacock?
Peacock isn’t just adding zombie comedies! The streaming service has been expanding its movie selection throughout February with popular titles like Coach Carter, Ghost, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. You can also now stream How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Man on Fire, Talk to Me, Train to Busan, and Conclave on Peacock.
