One of the Great Nintendo Switch Games Getting Free Switch 2 Upgrade

As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share the news that one of my favorite Nintendo Switch games from 2023 is receiving a free upgrade for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2! The exact details about the upgrade are still under wraps, such as its release date. However, it’s been confirmed that “in a few months” is when we can expect it. As of now, the only solid information disclosed about this free Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade is that it will offer a smoother gaming experience with a higher frame rate. Currently, the game runs at 30 FPS, so we can anticipate an upgrade to at least 60 FPS or even better!

To clarify, the Nintendo Switch game under discussion is Dave the Diver, developed by South Korean studio Mintrocket. This game received free downloadable content (DLC) recently. For those not familiar with the title, Dave the Diver combines elements of action-adventure and simulation games, earning a 90 on Metacritic upon its release, placing it among the top-rated games of 2023. Interestingly, for approximately a year after launch, Dave the Diver was exclusive to the Nintendo Switch console, as it didn’t become available on other platforms until 2024. As we move towards 2024, it is worth mentioning that by November 2024, Dave the Diver had sold over five million units, marking a significant commercial success for Mintrocket.

Apart from receiving a free DLC for Dave the Diver lately, and with the upcoming free upgrade of this DLC on the Nintendo Switch 2, additional perks are being planned to honor the game’s second anniversary.

There’s currently no news about a follow-up to the game, though it seems plausible that development might be underway, possibly targeted at the Nintendo Switch 2 and various other systems. However, this remains speculation at this point in time.

As for the pricing of Dave the Diver on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, Mintrocket hasn’t revealed the details yet. It’s likely that they will keep the price at $19.99 similar to its current eShop version. However, there might be a slight increase due to an upgrade. At this moment, we can only speculate as the exact cost is still unknown. Interestingly, it could potentially see a price drop since it’s no longer brand new, but given its age (only two years old) and popularity, a reduction seems unlikely.
