Disney+ is the go-to streaming service for superhero fans, especially those who love Marvel. The platform has a huge collection of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and shows, featuring almost every popular hero. However, Spider-Man’s story is a bit different, as some of his related movies are made by Sony. Now, a film from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is finally available to stream on Disney+.
The movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage, released in 2021, will be available to stream on Disney+ starting January 22nd. Directed by Andy Serkis and starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, it continues the story from the 2018 film Venom and is part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The plot centers around Eddie Brock and Venom as they confront Cletus Kasady (played by Woody Harrelson), a serial killer who becomes host to the dangerous symbiote, Carnage.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage Was a Success — But Also Very Divisive

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a bit of an unusual movie. It’s noticeably lighter in tone than the first Venom film, leaning more into the humor of Eddie and Venom’s relationship. Critics were divided – some felt the focus on their connection and faster pace improved the movie, while others thought it hurt it. However, fans generally enjoyed it, even with its changes in tone and some issues with how the characters developed. It was a big success at the box office, earning $506 million worldwide and becoming the seventh highest-grossing film of 2021. A sequel, Venom: The Last Dance, was released in 2024.
Although opinions are mixed, Venom: The Last Dance delivers excitement for fans. The movie’s mid-credits scene showed Eddie and Venom unexpectedly transported to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, right as J. Jonah Jameson revealed Spider-Man’s secret identity. They were quickly sent back to their own universe, but this moment hinted at a possible crossover between the Venom universe and the MCU. While a crossover seems less likely now, it was a fascinating idea, and many fans still hope to see Spider-Man and Venom battle it out someday.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage arrives on Disney+ January 22nd.
