The popular but often debated video game series, Death Stranding, is getting a new life as a show on Disney+. Both games were created by well-known game developer Hideo Kojima and his studio, Kojima Productions.
At Disney’s Asia Pacific originals content showcase in Hong Kong, Kojima surprised the audience with his appearance and announced that he is working on an all-animated Death Stranding series coming to Disney+ in 2027. The show’s working title is Death Stranding: Isolation. Check out Disney+’s synopsis of the series below:
The new series, currently titled Death Stranding Isolations, takes place in the world of Death Stranding but will feature a unique story, independent of the video games. It will center around a young man and woman embarking on a journey together.
I was so excited at the event when Hideo Kojima came on stage! He’s executive producing this new series, and he brought along the director, Takayuki Sana. They even showed off some early concept art by Ilya Kuvshinov – you might know his work from Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, it looks amazing! The animation is going to be traditionally hand-drawn 2D, which is fantastic, and it’s great to see E&H Productions in Japan handling the project.
