WWE has had to change its plans twice recently. First, Seth Rollins’ injury meant his match for the World Heavyweight Championship had to be altered. Now, another top performer has been injured – they were hurt during Friday’s SmackDown and will probably have to give up their championship title soon.
Sol Ruca hinted earlier today that she’d have news on WWE NXT, and unfortunately, it wasn’t good. She revealed she was injured during her match on SmackDown on Friday. While she didn’t specify the exact injury, she was seen wearing a knee brace and using a cane, suggesting it’s a knee problem.
Ruca announced she’s medically unfit to compete at Halloween Havoc and will be unable to defend her Women’s North American Championship. Her scheduled opponent, Blake Monroe, suggested she should automatically win the title due to Ruca’s injury. However, Zaria stepped in with an alternative proposal for General Manager Ava Raine.
Zaria offered to fight for the Women’s North American Championship at Halloween Havoc as a tribute to Ruca. Monroe dismissed the idea, but Ava agreed to it. Ultimately, Ruca had the final say, and after some hesitation, she decided she trusted Zaria and was comfortable with the arrangement. This means Zaria will now compete against Monroe at Halloween Havoc for the championship, but it also creates a situation where Ruca could lose her title without even wrestling in the match.
Ruca and Zaria quickly became a strong team despite only recently joining the Tag Team division, and their partnership has blossomed into a close friendship. However, they’ve recently faced some communication issues, likely due to Ruca juggling two championship titles – including the Women’s Speed Championship – alongside their pursuit of the Tag Team Championship.
Their partnership is starting to fall apart, and Zaria losing Ruca’s Title at Halloween Havoc could be the breaking point. Even if Monroe unfairly helps Monroe win, Zaria will still be upset about losing the championship, and Ruca will probably feel some bitterness towards Zaria, even though it wasn’t entirely her fault.
Honestly, the biggest thing I’m worried about is how bad Ruca’s injury really is. If it’s serious, she’s going to be out for a while, and it might actually make sense for someone else to hold the title until she gets back. I think either Zaria or Monroe could do something with a run, but Monroe feels like the smarter pick. I have a feeling Zaria and Ruca are going to end up fighting eventually once their team breaks up. But even if Zaria does win the title, they could still build to a great match later – imagine Ruca getting super jealous and wanting her title back! That could be amazing.
We’ll have to wait and see, but we wish Ruca all the best and wish her a quick recovery.
