One Piece Brings Luffy Back After 7 Months With an Exciting Twist

The long-awaited Elbaph Arc of One Piece began in September 2024, bringing Luffy and his crew to the legendary island of the Giants. Luffy has wanted to visit Elbaph ever since meeting Dorry and Brogy during the Little Garden Arc, and the island of proud warriors lives up to his expectations. The Straw Hat Pirates are initially welcomed warmly, but trouble quickly arises when the Holy Knights attack the Giants, aiming to destroy Elbaph. Realizing they can’t win a direct fight against the entire island, Shamrock Figarland resorts to taking the children hostage, hoping to force the Giants to surrender.

Currently, things are going according to plan – even Scopper Gaban, who could have easily defeated the Holy Knights, has stopped fighting. After the events in Elbaph, the story shifted to a lengthy flashback starting in June of last year (Chapter 1152). This flashback explored Harald’s history, introduced Rocks D. Xebec, and revealed the secrets of God Valley. With the flashback now finished in the latest chapter, the story is returning to Luffy and the rest of the crew.

Luffy Returns in One Piece Chapter 1171 With His Strongest Ally So Far

For seven months, the story focused entirely on the past, and we didn’t see Luffy or the rest of the Straw Hats. While learning about the past is interesting, many fans missed seeing the main characters, especially Luffy. Fortunately, Luffy is back in the latest chapter and is teaming up with Loki. Although we expected them to work together, recent events at Aurust Castle revealed that Loki might be Luffy’s strongest ally yet.

Loki is incredibly powerful, possessing the lineage of ancient giants and wielding the legendary weapon Ragnir – strong enough to defeat even his father, the historically mighty King Harald. Driven to defend his home from the Holy Knights, Loki has found an ally in Luffy, who is eager to help. While Luffy hopes Loki will join his crew, adding another member at this point in their journey might not be feasible.
