One Piece Creator Reveals the Series Is Closer to the End Than Ever as It Speeds Up

For the past few years, One Piece has been progressing through its final storyline, and the creator recently shared that the series is closer to ending than ever before. The final saga began in 2022 with the Egghead Arc, and it’s been evident since then that the story will eventually conclude. As long-held fan theories are confirmed or debunked, the series is building towards a grand finale.

I was so hyped to see what One Piece had in store at Jump Festa 2026! Eiichiro Oda himself sent a message to fans, and it was packed with exciting hints about what’s coming next year. He said the story is going to move at an incredibly fast pace, with some huge things happening that will really lead us towards the ending! I’m seriously on the edge of my seat!

One Piece Is Speeding Towards the End

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, recently said that after a lengthy look back at the story’s history – which he hopes gave fans a new understanding of Elbaph – things are about to get really exciting. He teased that the series will soon reach an island no other pirate has ever seen, and that a mysterious character known as ‘the man with the burn scar’ will make his debut. Oda also hinted at several long-awaited meetings between characters, predicting that the next year will be packed with major events and encounters.

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, shared exciting news about the manga’s upcoming year, including big events and story developments. He also reassured fans about his health, explaining that while the story will be moving very quickly as it approaches its conclusion, he’ll be prioritizing his well-being. He promises a fast-paced and spectacular year for One Piece fans, filled with celebrations!

When Is One Piece Actually Going to End?

Despite significant advancements in the story over the last three years since the Final Saga’s announcement, it still seems like a lot needs to happen before Luffy and his crew can even get close to finding the One Piece treasure. Recent hints, like the mention of an island only reached by the Pirate King, could be referring to the final destination, Laugh Tale, or potentially to the enigmatic “Lodestar Island” that Roger spoke about in a flashback.

Beyond that, there are still many flashbacks needed to fully explain the history of the Void Century, and a lot more to show during the final battle itself. Considering how long previous major conflicts like Wano and Marineford took to unfold, this final war for the One Piece could easily take three to five years of story time. Even though the pace is picking up, there’s still a huge amount of story left to tell.
