One Piece Delays Highly Anticipated Spin-Off

Among the exciting anime developments expected in 2026, Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece is poised for a major moment. Next month, the reindeer doctor will appear in live-action for the first time as part of the Netflix adaptation of the popular series. While fans anticipate a new spin-off focusing on Chopper, its release has been delayed for unexpected reasons. So, manga readers will have to wait a little longer to enjoy his standalone story, even as Chopper prepares to gain popularity on Netflix.

The spin-off story focusing on Tony Tony Chopper, announced last year, will explore his adventures outside of the main One Piece storyline. This side story will show Chopper experiencing the everyday world and modern technology. It’s important to note that this series isn’t considered part of the main One Piece canon. The first volume was originally planned for release on March 4th, but has been delayed until April 23rd. The delay is due to high demand, and the team wants to ensure enough copies are printed for everyone.

Tony Tony’s Real World Premiere

The second season of Netflix’s live-action One Piece adaptation premieres on March 10th and will cover a significant portion of the original story. Key locations will include Loguetown, Whiskey Peak, and Reverse Mountain, with a major focus on the wintry Drum Island. This is where fans will meet Tony Tony Chopper, the Straw Hats’ doctor, who will be brought to life through CG animation and voiced by Mikaela Hoover (known for her work in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Superman).

The first season of the live-action One Piece closely followed the original story, largely because the creator, Eiichiro Oda, was heavily involved as an executive producer. Tony Tony Chopper, as seen so far, looks just like he does in the manga and anime. With the show’s return approaching, Chopper has appeared in trailers, but fans are curious about how his unique abilities will be portrayed. In the original One Piece, Tony Tony frequently changes forms, becoming larger and stronger for battles. While we haven’t seen these transformations in the live-action series yet, most fans expect they’ll be featured when it returns to Netflix next month.

Currently in both the manga and anime, Tony Tony Chopper continues to sail with the Straw Hat Pirates as they journey through the final saga of One Piece. As the crew explores the island of the giants, Elbaph, Chopper is playing a particularly important role this year.
