One Piece: Every Main Baroque Works Member, Ranked

With its long and complex story, One Piece consistently introduces new villains with each major arc. These antagonists are often part of large, well-organized criminal groups that extend beyond the typical pirates and marines seen throughout the series. While many powerful organizations have appeared, like the recently introduced Cross Guild, Baroque Works was a particularly memorable and influential group early in the story.

The criminal organization known as Baroque Works, led by one of the world’s most powerful pirates, Crocodile, was huge, with hundreds of people involved. But only a small group of leaders were truly dangerous and important to the story. Here are the 12 most significant members of Baroque Works, ranked by how much influence they have in the world of One Piece.

12) Miss Doublefinger

Zala, known as Miss Doublefinger, was paired with Mr. 1 as part of the organization’s system of matching men and women. Because she was teamed with such a highly-ranked partner, many fans expected great things from her, but she didn’t quite live up to the hype.

I have to admit, this character had a really cool Devil Fruit power – she could turn her body into spikes! But honestly, she seriously misjudged Nami in their fight and ended up losing. It’s a shame, because while her ability was neat, she didn’t really play a big role in the overall story. She mostly just felt like someone there to be defeated, which unfortunately puts her pretty low on my list of favorite characters.

11) Miss Valentine

Mikita Valentine, known as Miss Valentine, worked with Mr. 5, and her greatest strength was her Devil Fruit power. This ability let her instantly change her weight from virtually nothing to up to 10,000 kilograms. She used this power in clever and effective ways during battles, and even had some memorable moments with Vivi.

Despite her skills, she wasn’t strong enough to win against the most powerful fighters like Luffy and Zoro. Later, during the Egghead arc, she reappeared, having left Baroque Works and settled into a peaceful life.

10) Mr. 4

Babe, known as Mr. 4, was a high-ranking official, but he became truly prominent during the climax of the Alabasta storyline as a key villain. Even without any special Devil Fruit powers, Mr. 4 was a dangerous opponent, famously using a massive 4-ton baseball bat to attack his enemies – an attack Usopp narrowly endured during the final fight.

Usopp and Chopper eventually won their fight against Babe, and he hasn’t been a significant character since. Mr. 4 is mostly remembered because of his unique weapon, Lasso – a gun that was also designed as a dog hybrid. The series hasn’t really explained why such strange combinations exist.

9) Mr. 5

Mr. 5 and his partner, Miss Valentine, were among the first powerful members of Baroque Works. Though not incredibly dangerous themselves, their presence demonstrated the organization’s overall strength. What really distinguished Mr. 5 was his unique ability gained from a Devil Fruit.

Man, the Bomb-Bomb Fruit was such a cool ability! It let Gem turn any part of himself into a bomb and just… explode it! He was seriously dangerous, though it felt like he never quite mastered everything it could do – he seemed to know that himself. Still, that explosive fruit definitely made Mr. 5 memorable, even if just a little bit, among all the other characters.

8) Miss Merry Christmas

Miss Merry Christmas, Mr. 4’s partner, was a more prominent threat, mainly because of her Devil Fruit power. This made her a key agent for Baroque Works and a major villain during the Alabasta storyline. Her ability to turn into a mole let her ambush opponents by appearing suddenly from beneath the ground.

Her abilities allowed her to briefly overpower several members of the Straw Hat crew, including a notable clash with Usopp, though he eventually overcame her. Even after her defeat, Drophy continued to be an important asset to Baroque Works, as her speed and talent for stealth made her incredibly useful for infiltrating enemy lines.

7) Miss Goldenweek

Marianne, also called Miss Goldenweek, didn’t have any special powers from a Devil Fruit. However, she had the sixth-highest bounty in the Baroque Works organization, mostly because she was incredibly skilled at manipulating people. She used techniques involving colors – called Color Traps – to hypnotize and control others.

Her skills were particularly useful against Luffy, as he quickly fell victim to her tricks and struggled to escape their effects. However, she wasn’t strong enough to win battles on her own and could be defeated by opponents who were more powerful or simply outnumbered her. Now, she’s a painter at the Spider Café, enjoying a peaceful life that suits her personality.

6) Mr. 1

Daz Bonez, also known as Mr. 1, was the second-most powerful member of the Baroque Works organization. His Devil Fruit power allowed him to transform parts of his body into incredibly sharp blades and greatly enhanced his toughness, essentially making him a living weapon. During the climax of the Alabasta arc, he fought Zoro and almost won, proving to be a formidable opponent in a challenging battle.

Zoro reached a new level of fighting skill during this battle, enabling him to predict Daz’s moves and win. This is why Mr. 1 is still a significant figure within the organization, though even as a member of the Cross Guild, others have contributed more in areas beyond just fighting.

5) Mr. 3

After the events in Alabasta, the characters’ stories continue to develop. Galdino, also known as Mr. 3, proved to be a powerful enemy during the Little Garden arc. He used his ability to control wax to defeat the Giants and almost turned several members of the Straw Hat crew into wax figures.

Galdino showed up again during the Impel Down story, helping Luffy escape by protecting him from a deadly attack by Magellan. After escaping, he joined the Cross Guild, and many fans believe he’ll play a bigger role in the story later on.

4) Mr. 2

Bon Clay, also known as Mr. 2, stood out as a truly unique member of Baroque Works. Unlike other agents, he didn’t need a partner, skillfully playing both roles himself. Though first introduced as an enemy, he later proved to be a genuine friend to the Straw Hat pirates, and his loyalty earned him the honor of being considered part of their crew.

I remember watching Mr. 2 help Luffy and the Straw Hats during the Alabasta adventure – he quickly became someone you could really rely on. Then, he made the ultimate sacrifice, giving his life so Luffy and the others could escape from Impel Down. We all thought he was gone for good, but it turned out he survived and ended up as the Queen of Impel Down’s Newkama Land! Honestly, One Piece really needs to bring Mr. 2 back and let him see the Straw Hats again, even just once. If they don’t, it’ll feel like a huge missed opportunity after everything he did.

3) Miss Wednesday

Vivi, also known as Miss Wednesday, wasn’t a direct fighter for Baroque Works. However, her secret identity as the princess of Alabasta – and her reason for joining the organization to learn its secrets – quickly made her a key character in the story. Since then, she’s become increasingly important to the Straw Hat Pirates, and many fans view her as an unofficial member of their crew.

Learning about her connection to the D. clan has made her role in the story even more significant. Since Vivi is expected to reappear soon, her importance within the Baroque Works organization has increased considerably.

2) Miss All Sunday

Nico Robin, initially known as Miss All Sunday, was first presented as a key enemy during the Alabasta storyline. As the second-in-command of Baroque Works, her ability to decipher ancient texts called Poneglyphs was crucial to their plans. But after the organization was defeated, the truth about Robin was revealed, and she later became a member of the Straw Hat Pirates.

Nico Robin has one of the most tragic pasts in the world of One Piece. As a vital part of the Straw Hat Pirates, she’s also a former high-ranking officer of the now-defunct Baroque Works organization. Because she’s the only one who can decipher the ancient Poneglyphs, she’s essential to Luffy’s quest to find the One Piece.

1) Mr. 0

Crocodile, also known as Mr. 0, led the criminal organization Baroque Works with the goal of finding Pluton, a tremendously powerful Ancient Weapon. His plans were thwarted by the Straw Hat Pirates. Despite being defeated, Crocodile remained a threat, escaping from the heavily fortified Impel Down prison during a massive breakout.

Crocodile has become an even more powerful pirate since then. He recently teamed up with Dracule Mihawk to create Cross Guild, which is now the biggest criminal organization in the world of One Piece. This shows he’s likely to return as a major player, possibly even in the series’ final battle.
