The latest flashback in *One Piece*, initially focused on the death of the Giant King Harold, has expanded to reveal the full story of the God Valley incident – a legendary battle in the series. This flashback is changing long-held beliefs about the event, establishing new details and rewriting previously known facts. It’s been revealed that Shakky was actually responsible for starting the incident, and Rocks D. Xebec is now presented as a sympathetic figure, rather than the villain he was once believed to be, finally bringing the complete truth of God Valley to light.
The newest chapter of *One Piece*, Chapter 1162, titled “God Valley Battle Royale,” is now heavily focused on action. Even with just short scenes so far, it’s shaping up to be even more intense than the famous Marineford arc, another large-scale fight between pirates and the marines. The power levels in God Valley are much higher, featuring powerful groups like the Roger Pirates, Rocks Pirates, and the God Knights, along with key figures like Saturn and even Imu, all while several important storylines develop in the background.
One Piece‘s God Valley Incident Is More Chaotic Than Expected

The battle at Marineford was all about saving Portgas D. Ace from being executed. It pitted the Navy and the Seven Warlords against Whitebeard’s powerful pirate crew. Although Marineford was a huge event in the story, the events that happened at God Valley are actually more interesting and have a bigger impact. A key part of the God Valley story is the World Nobles hunting down the people who lived on the island, which led to characters like Kuma joining the Revolutionary Army. Learning that Monkey D. Dragon saved Shanks adds even more meaning to the Revolutionary Army’s origins and goals.
The arrival of both the Rocks Pirates and the Roger Pirates adds a surprisingly funny romantic element to Shakky’s story, highlighting the unpredictable lives of pirates. However, the discovery that the Rocks Pirates’ real goal was to protect their family dramatically changes how we understand the events that unfolded. Because of this, and the fact that the battle was much more intense than Marineford, the mysteries surrounding God Valley are even more complex.
The newest developments showcase Rocks’ incredible power as he severely wounds Saint Figarland, who can only try to outlast the attacks with his healing abilities. The situation becomes even more intense with the arrival of Saturn Jaygarcia, and the suggestion that Imu will also join the battle. We also learn how Kaido got his Devil Fruit and see him practicing his powers with Rocks and Whitebeard, forming a legendary team. As the battle escalates with Roger, Garp, and Harold about to enter the fight, the God Valley Battle Royale is shaping up to be a massive war in *One Piece*, far bigger and more chaotic than the Marineford arc.
