As always, One Piece was a major highlight of Jump Festa, and this year’s event didn’t disappoint fans. The One Piece panel concluded Jump Festa 2026 with several exciting reveals about the upcoming Elbaf Arc of the anime, including a new visual, trailer, and a general timeframe for its release. A new movie is also in the works, though details are still under wraps – even creator Eiichiro Oda isn’t sharing anything yet! With Jump Festa being a huge anime and manga convention, many fans were hoping for news about a potential remake of the series, but unfortunately, no information was released on that front.
During Jump Festa 2024 last December, WIT Studio and Netflix announced they were creating a remake. They’ve shown some early concept art and character designs, but haven’t said when it will be released. This suggests the remake might take a while, though we could learn more next year. In a message from creator Eiichiro Oda, shared on the official One Piece X account, he confirmed the remake is moving forward, but that was the extent of the update for this year.
One Piece’s Anime Remake Is Making Slow Progress, But It’s Worth The Wait

I remember when the remake was announced in 2023 – the internet absolutely exploded! Everyone was thrilled about a new adaptation of the anime, especially with promises of a better pace for the East Blue Saga and updated, modern animation. And it makes sense why fans were so excited; WIT Studio is a huge name in anime, known for incredibly beautiful work like the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and Netflix’s Moonrise, among other projects. It’s worth remembering that for over 26 years, Toei Animation had been releasing episodes weekly, often adapting just one chapter of the source material per episode.
I’m so excited! It’s been confirmed that the original One Piece anime will finally get a consistent seasonal release schedule starting in 2026, covering the Elbaf Arc and beyond. But the really big news is the remake! They’re planning a seasonal format for the whole thing, beginning right with the East Blue Saga. That’s where we meet Luffy, a young adventurer determined to become the King of the Pirates, and watch him assemble his amazing crew – a group of dreamers ready to brave any ocean with him. The remake is all about bringing One Piece to a wider, global audience and giving newcomers a perfect starting point to fall in love with the series!
As a huge One Piece fan, seeing how well the live-action series did really showed everyone the potential for fresh adaptations – it’s a great thing for the whole franchise! Because it’s been two years since they first announced a remake, I’m really hoping we’ll finally get some news about it next year. The excitement is definitely building!
