The main character in One Piece has a remarkable ability to connect with people, even through small acts of kindness. This resonates with both those within the story and viewers who have followed Luffy’s adventures for years. He seems like a typical pirate from a small village, boldly declaring his ambition to become the Pirate King, which might not usually grab attention. But Luffy’s actions, beliefs, and unwavering commitment to freedom give his words real power. Of all the people he’s inspired, his crew members have the strongest and most steadfast belief in him.
The Straw Hat Pirates are dedicated to both achieving their personal goals and helping Luffy realize his dream of becoming the Pirate King. Through many hardships, their steadfast belief in Luffy keeps them motivated, pushing them to improve and support him however possible. Because Luffy has rescued each of them in the past, their loyalty and trust are incredibly strong. Their frequent declarations of faith in Luffy’s future are some of the most memorable and powerful moments in the series.
9) Zoro Declares The New Reason Behind His Dream

Zoro wants to become the world’s greatest swordsman, a goal he made with his friend Kuina when they were children. After Kuina tragically died, Zoro vowed to carry out their shared dream. Meeting Luffy strengthened his resolve even further. Losing to Mihawk showed Zoro just how much stronger the current top swordsman was, and how much training he still needed.
Completely defeated and embarrassed, he lifts his sword and vows to never lose another battle. He pledges his loyalty to Luffy, determined to achieve his own dream because the future Pirate King deserves the very best swordsman by his side.
8) Usopp’s Proclamation Is Still One of His Best Moments Ever

Usopp generally avoids direct confrontation, but he always manages to rise to the occasion when things get really tough. Early in their journey through the Grand Line, the crew immediately encountered a powerful enemy – one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, a challenge even for the strongest pirates. Despite being hurt and facing a much stronger opponent, Usopp refused to believe Miss Merry Christmas when she claimed Luffy was defeated.
Usopp didn’t believe Luffy could be defeated so easily, even though he didn’t know what had happened to his captain. He was certain Luffy would become the Pirate King, and therefore couldn’t be killed. Despite being intimidated by his enemy’s power, Usopp remained steadfast in his belief in Luffy.
8) Brook Wants The World to Know That Luffy’s Dream Will Come True

It’s amazing how much happened while we were all apart! Brook really became a legend during those two years, performing all over the world while we waited to reunite. And the Summit War… wow, that event totally changed everything. It’s hard to believe Luffy, one of the most talked-about pirates ever, disappeared right after. While we were all pushing ourselves to get stronger, it felt like the world was starting to forget about the Straw Hats, the crew that really rattled the World Government!
Brook refused to let Luffy’s journey end prematurely, so just before meeting up with his friends again, he announced something incredible to the world: Luffy is still alive and destined to become the Pirate King.
6) Sanji Would Never Let Luffy Compromise His Dreams For Anyone

Sanji left the crew with Capone Bege suddenly, without telling anyone why. He learned his family was trying to arrange a marriage to Big Mom’s daughter, hoping it would create an alliance. He understood that if he stayed with Luffy and the others, it would mean Luffy would have to submit to Big Mom, and he couldn’t let that happen.
Sanji couldn’t stand the thought of someone aiming to be the Pirate King being under anyone else’s command, so he left, hoping Luffy would continue his adventure without him. But Luffy feels just as strongly about Sanji; he knows he can’t reach his dream without one of his most trusted friends with him.
5) Chopper Wants The Next Generation to Know Luffy Can’t Be Easily Beaten

Chopper was a lonely reindeer, rejected by others, until Dr. Hiriluk took him in and cared for him for about a year. After Dr. Hiriluk sadly passed away, Chopper spent several years studying medicine with Dr. Kureha, eventually leading him to become a pirate and find where he truly belonged.
Seeing Luffy’s courage and unwavering spirit motivated him to chase his own goals. This explains why Chopper believes in Luffy so strongly, just like the rest of the crew. For example, during the Punk Hazard arc, he comforted frightened children by confidently declaring that even a formidable opponent like Caesar Clown couldn’t defeat the future Pirate King.
4) Nami’s Loyalty Never Had Any Room For Doubt

Nami, similar to Usopp, gets frightened when facing strong enemies, but she has her limits. When she fought Ulti from the Beast Pirates, running away seemed like the smartest move, but it proved difficult. To make matters worse, Ulti repeatedly headbutted Nami, trying to force her to admit Luffy would never become Pirate King.
I always understood Ulti’s drive – she desperately wanted to be Kaido’s successor, and couldn’t stand the thought of anyone else even trying to claim that spot. It was a surprisingly simple situation, really. All Nami needed to do was tell a little white lie and avoid trouble. But like the rest of us Straw Hats, she knew Luffy was destined to be King of the Pirates. She just couldn’t bring herself to say anything different, and honestly, neither could I! Her loyalty to Luffy is just that strong.
3) Luffy’s Dream Gives Franky The Strength to Stand Against Big Mom

Things in Wano really hit the fan when Big Mom teamed up with Kaido! We were already worried about Luffy and the crew taking on Kaido and his forces, but Big Mom showing up felt like an impossible challenge. Still, I just know it’s going to take a whole lot more than just two Emperors to actually take down the Straw Hats – they’re tougher than anyone realizes!
Nami and Franky faced a huge challenge when they ran into Big Mom, who was much stronger than either of them. Nami immediately suggested they escape, but Franky refused to run from such a powerful opponent, especially since he considers himself a follower of the future Pirate King and wants to prove his strength.
2) Jinbe Won’t Let a Mere Yonko Overwhelm Him

Although Jinbe didn’t formally become a crew member until the Wano Country arc, he was already considered part of the team during the Whole Cake Island adventure. He had been working for Big Mom since Whitebeard passed away, but he ultimately chose to leave her crew and join Luffy on his voyage. However, Big Mom had the dangerous ability to exploit people’s fear of death, turning their life force into something real.
She had the power to drastically shorten someone’s life, even kill them, simply to make an example and ensure loyalty within her crew. But Jinbe refused to be frightened by her, despite her status as one of the most powerful pirates. He confidently stated that his loyalty to the future Pirate King meant he wasn’t afraid of even a powerful Emperor of the Sea, demonstrating his unwavering faith in his captain.
1) Robin Knows Luffy Has The Best Allies to Achieve His Dream

During the attack on Onigashima, Robin answered Sanji’s call for help when he was fighting Black Maria. She was truly glad he was counting on her and confident she could save him. She recognized Sanji’s power and admired that he stayed true to his principles, even in a dangerous fight. While some might make fun of him for refusing to fight women, even enemies, it’s this very chivalry that defines him.
Watching Robin go head-to-head with Black Maria was incredible! She straight-up said that Sanji deserves to be considered one of the Pirate King’s Wings – talk about a huge endorsement! It wasn’t just about believing in Luffy achieving his dream, though; she really emphasized that he needs Sanji and Zoro fighting alongside him. It felt like a really powerful moment, solidifying how important those three are to Luffy’s journey.
