Please be aware that this article reveals major plot points from the One Piece manga.
One Piece is an exciting adventure story that follows the Straw Hat Pirates on their perilous journey across the seas. Their ultimate goal is to reach Laugh Tale, a mysterious island at the end of the Grand Line that’s absent from all maps. The Roger Pirates, captained by the legendary Pirate King Gol D. Roger, are the only ones ever known to have found it. The story kicks off with Roger’s execution 22 years prior, when he famously announced he’d hidden all his treasure in a single location. This treasure promises immense wealth, fame, and power to whoever can find it.
The treasure was eventually called the One Piece, and news of it quickly spread, launching the Great Pirate Era. This inspired many people to brave the dangerous oceans in search of it. Reaching the final island requires not only strength, but also intelligence and good fortune. But even finding Laugh Tale won’t be the end of the story; a massive final war is coming, and the events of the Elbaph Arc have already begun to set it in motion.
One Piece‘s Elbaph Arc Is Setting Up The Final War

The conflict on Elbaf stems from Imu’s urgent need to build an army of Giant warriors for a coming war. Believing Vegapunk’s broadcast signaled that war is unavoidable, Imu is preparing for a massive confrontation. Chapter 1179 finally shows his face after eight years, and his arrival on the island means serious trouble for Luffy and his crew, as the full scope of his power remains a mystery. Imu has secretly ruled the world for 800 years, meticulously planning for this moment.
Although Luffy and his crew were doing well against the Holy Knights, things have become much more dangerous now that Imu has appeared. Imu used to stay hidden in Pangea Castle, controlling others from afar – even taking over Rocks D. Xebec during the God Valley Incident. His direct involvement signals a major escalation, and he clearly won’t stop until he achieves his goals.
Okay, so the newest chapter really blew my mind! It turns out this villain’s obsession with Vivi is because she’s related to Lily – that’s huge! Everything’s changing in the One Piece world, and it feels like a massive war is coming, with Luffy and Imu right in the middle of it all. But before that happens, the Straw Hats have to reach Laugh Tale to finally get some answers. And it looks like they’re getting closer than ever – I think we’ll see them find the last missing piece of the puzzle sometime this year, probably during the Elbaph arc. I can’t wait!
One Piece Will Introduce The Man With The Burn Scar This Year

Every December at Jump Festa, the creator of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, shares updates with fans about what’s coming next year. At last year’s Jump Festa 2026, he announced that a character known as the ‘Man With The Burn Scar’ will appear in 2026. Although we haven’t met this mysterious character yet, he’s already playing a major role in the story’s overall plot.
He has the Fourth Road Poneglyph, which will give the Straw Hats the last clue they need. This character, first mentioned in chapter 1056 by Killer from the Kid Pirates, is crucial to finding the One Piece treasure. Chapter 1081 reveals more about him, suggesting he has a Devil Fruit ability that lets him create massive whirlpools, capable of destroying anything that gets too close.
The introduction of this new character strongly suggests the crew is nearing their final destination – the last island. The Elbaph Arc began in the manga in September 2024 and is still ongoing. However, Imu’s appearance has completely shifted the story, and it’s now uncertain what will happen next or if we’ll see a new arc begin this year.
