One Piece Unveils the True Power of Its New Legendary Weapon (Far Beyond Anything Expected)

A new chapter of the One Piece manga is out this week, bringing an end to the series’ lengthy flashback. After over six months, the story is back in the present, focusing on the events in Elbaph. Many fans consider the just-concluded flashback to be the best yet, as it finally showed the God Valley Incident – a legendary event viewers have anticipated for years. Alongside major story revelations, the flashback highlighted a new powerful weapon and a crucial character, centering on Loki and the reasons behind the belief that he killed his father.

The recent flashback dramatically changed how viewers see Loki, confirming he did kill his father with a powerful, unique weapon – a hybrid object that’s part squirrel. It also introduced Ragnir, the name of this weapon. While this reveal was surprising, it quickly became clear that Ragnir is heavily inspired by the mythological hammer Mjolnir from Norse legends. The story emphasizes that Ragnir’s powers and origins are rooted in classic Norse mythology, rather than the lightning-focused version seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Loki’s Ragnir Might Be One Piece’s Best Legendary Weapon Yet

In One Piece Chapter 1171, titled “Ragnir,” Loki is released and immediately joins the fight to protect Elbaph. He quickly jumps into action, eager to prove his worth. When a huge monster – a Draguar created by Killingham from children’s nightmares – appears in the lower part of Elbaph, Loki attacks with Ragnir, using a move called Nibelheim. This instantly freezes the creature solid, stopping it in its tracks. Because Ragnir is inspired by Mjolnir, many fans thought it would only be able to control lightning and storms.

Ragnir seems heavily inspired by Norse mythology, hinting that its main ability might be controlling the weather – not just lightning and storms. This control could even extend to creating ice. The name ‘Nibelheim,’ taken directly from Norse myths as the realm of ice, supports this idea. This suggests Ragnir isn’t just a replica of Mjolnir, but something new, potentially combining elements of both the Leviathan Axe and Mjolnir from the God of War games.

Ragnir’s full power is still being uncovered, but it appears to be a living being, much like a squirrel. This explains why it sometimes acts independently. Considering its past role as the protector of the Devil Fruit Loki ate, Ragnir could become incredibly powerful. As we learn more about what it can do, it might even become as significant as, or even stronger than, the Ancient Weapons from One Piece.
