One Piece’s Biggest Attraction is Finally Coming to The US

Since its start in the late 1990s, One Piece and the Straw Hat Pirates have become a hugely popular action series published in Weekly Shonen Jump. With the anime now exceeding 1,100 episodes, Monkey D. Luffy’s story is reaching its climax and gaining even more fans in North America. For a long time, many One Piece events held in Japan seemed unavailable to international fans, but that’s starting to change. A major real-world One Piece event has just been announced and will be coming to the West.

Universal Studios Hollywood is bringing the hugely popular anime and manga series One Piece to North America for the first time with a major new attraction. Fans may remember a One Piece event last year, but this time, the park will host the One Piece: Grand Pirate Show – a thrilling live-action stunt show that’s been a hit in Japan for years. Many thought this show would never come to the U.S., but due to the franchise’s massive popularity, it will run on select nights from April 25th to May 16th.

What is the One Piece Water Show?

Want to know what to expect from the new live show? Here’s how Universal describes ONE PIECE: Grand Pirate Show: it’s a high-energy experience featuring Luffy and his crew, packed with exciting battles, water stunts, and a spectacular fireworks finale! Afterwards, you can visit the ONE PIECE: Grand Pirate Gathering fan zone for themed food and drinks (including Sanji’s Galley eats!), and even take photos with the Straw Hat Crew. Get ready for adventure – what are you waiting for?

The recent surge in popularity of One Piece in North America is thanks to the growing interest in anime, but also due to Netflix’s live-action series. The show has quickly become a hit on the streaming platform, and Netflix has already announced a third season. Fans won’t have to wait much longer – the second season is coming out in just a few weeks!

I’m so excited about Universal Fanfest Nights! While One Piece is the only anime series officially part of the event – which is pretty amazing in itself! – it’s not the only awesome franchise featured. We’ll also get to experience attractions based on Scooby-Doo, Harry Potter, Dungeons & Dragons, and Super Nintendo World. I remember Jujutsu Kaisen being at a past North American Fanfest, and I’m really hoping we see even more anime come over from Japan and join the fun at Universal Studios in the future. Seriously, bring on the anime!
