Capcom recently hinted at the upcoming release of their new game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. They’ve been sharing updates and gameplay since announcing it in 2024, but a firm release date has remained unknown. However, a recent tease suggests we won’t have to wait much longer to find out when the game will launch.
Capcom recently announced it’s turning its attention to Onimusha: Way of the Sword. After launching three major games this year – Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, and Pragmata – Capcom confirmed it still has more planned for 2026, with Onimusha: Way of the Sword being the next big release.
We’re not done with 2026 yet.

Based on recent information, it’s likely Capcom will soon announce the release date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Currently, they don’t have any other major game releases planned for 2026, making a promotional push for this title a logical next step. After the release date is revealed, pre-orders for the game should become available.
It’s difficult to predict exactly when Capcom will release Onimusha: Way of the Sword. While a fall release seems probable, Capcom might want to avoid launching it too close to other action games like Phantom Blade Zero and Marvel’s Wolverine, both scheduled for September. November will see the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, a major title that many publishers will likely want to steer clear of. Therefore, October appears to be the most likely release window for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, but this is just an educated guess.
When Onimusha: Way of the Sword is released, it will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While a Nintendo Switch 2 version hasn’t been confirmed, it’s possible Capcom might release one in the future, considering their recent support for the console.
