Ubisoft is planning to bring back its popular pirate game, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, for the PlayStation 5, with an official announcement expected this week. But according to Insider Gaming, this isn’t the only older Assassin’s Creed game they’re updating for current consoles.
According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft is working on at least one more remake of an Assassin’s Creed game, beyond the already announced project. They may create even more remakes after that, but that will depend on how successful the upcoming remake of Black Flag, called Black Flag Resynced, is when it’s released.
This new information confirms earlier reports from the website, which first suggested in May 2025 that Ubisoft was planning nine Assassin’s Creed games over the next six years. The earlier report indicated that two remakes were already in the works, with a third being considered.
Ubisoft has officially announced that Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced will be revealed this Thursday, April 23rd, 2026. In a playful social media post, the company acknowledged that the announcement was highly anticipated and not much of a surprise.
Ubisoft is improving older Assassin’s Creed games on the PlayStation 5, making them run at a smoother 60 frames per second. This isn’t a complete overhaul or a remaster, but an upgrade to performance. Currently, these improvements are available for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Origins, Syndicate, and, most recently, Unity.
