I’m so excited! There’s this awesome open-world survival game that’s currently free for all of us with PlayStation Plus on PS5! The best part is, it doesn’t matter which level of PS Plus you have – Essential, Extra, or Premium – you can grab it. But you have to act fast! The free download is only available until March 3rd. After that, it goes back to its regular price of $30. If you download it before the deadline, though, it’s yours to keep as long as you stay subscribed to PlayStation Plus!
PlayStation Plus subscribers can now get Subnautica: Below Zero for free on both PS4 and PS5. This game, released in 2021 by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, is a spin-off of their popular 2018 title, Subnautica. Originally planned as downloadable content, it grew into a full standalone game. While this is the latest release from the studio, they’re planning to launch Subnautica 2 in early access later this year.
Open-World, Underwater Survival Game
Subnautica: Below Zero received generally positive reviews, with scores between 76 and 83 on Metacritic. While this is a good score, it’s slightly lower than the original Subnautica, which scored between 80 and 87. Interestingly, player reviews are even more positive. On the PlayStation Store, it has a 4.5 out of 5 star rating based on over 13,000 reviews – which translates to around 90 out of 100 on Metacritic. Steam users also largely approve, with an 89% rating.
One of the Best Ocean Exploration Games
There aren’t a lot of video games that let you explore under the sea, but the Subnautica series – including Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero – are among the best. What makes them stand out is that they offer a compelling story alongside the typical survival gameplay. With Subnautica 2 looking like a great game when it releases in 2026, now is the perfect time to start playing!
