I’ve noticed 2025 feels like a particularly interesting year for tech, and it’s largely thanks to those yearly recaps we’re seeing from platforms like Apple Music, YouTube, Spotify, LinkedIn, and Google Photos. They’re really highlighting how we spend our time online – things like total hours used, our most-listened-to artists, and other interesting data points about our habits.
OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has launched a new feature called “Your Year with ChatGPT.” This feature lets users look back at how they’ve used ChatGPT over the past year. It’s currently available in countries like the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
According to OpenAI, the new feature will be available to all individual users—those with Free, Plus, or Pro subscriptions—who have turned on the “Reference Saved Memories” and “Reference Chat History” settings within the app. It won’t be accessible for users on Team, Enterprise, or Education plans.

Similar to Spotify’s Wrapped, OpenAI’s “Your Year with ChatGPT” gives you a visual summary of how you’ve used the AI throughout the year. It also creates a short, personalized poem based on your conversations, aiming to capture the overall feeling of your interactions.
We’ll also be recognizing your ChatGPT usage with awards throughout the year. For example, someone who consistently uses the chatbot to solve difficult problems might earn the “Creative Debugger” badge.
As a researcher, I’ve noticed ChatGPT provides some interesting data about how *you* use it. It shows statistics like your most active day and the total number of conversations we’ve had. They’ve even added a playful touch, pointing out how many em dashes – those long dashes – we’ve used in our chats together. It’s a neat way to personalize the experience and give you a little insight into your interactions.

You can find your yearly ChatGPT summary—called ‘Your Year with ChatGPT’—on both the web and mobile apps (for iPhone and Android). It should appear automatically on your home screen. If you don’t see it, you can simply ask ChatGPT to show you your recap.
The news follows Google’s release of Gemini 3, which may have caused a drop in traffic to ChatGPT. This prompted CEO Sam Altman to issue a “code red” alert, though he recently stated OpenAI expects to be past this issue by January. He clarified that OpenAI uses “code red” alerts whenever they face new competition.

Did you see your personalized ‘Wrapped’ summary from ChatGPT? What were your thoughts on it? Or did you turn off those personalized features right away? Share your experience in the comments and vote in the poll!
