Josh Groban is looking back at his time with Rob Reiner.
Following the deaths of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, at their California home – their son, Nick Reiner, has entered a not guilty plea in the murder case – singer Josh Groban shared memories of working with Rob on a concert film for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
Josh shared on the 2026 Oscars red carpet that meeting the creators of the classic 1984 mockumentary was a dream come true. The film stars Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer as the band, with Rob playing the filmmaker documenting them.
Josh shared with Zuri Hall on ‘Live From TopMob: Oscars’ that the movie Spinal Tap felt like a constant companion throughout his experiences. He was thrilled to work with Rob Reiner, Michelle, and the rest of the hilarious cast and crew, calling them ‘the funniest people on the planet.’
The show didn’t use special effects to rebuild the famous British landmark, and its release has been delayed following the passing of Rob and Michele.

He described filming at Stonehenge, saying, “We broadcast live from there, and it’s something I’ll never forget. Working with him was an incredible learning experience, and I’m excited for people to finally see the results.”
Even though his highly anticipated collaboration with the famous director will be delayed, Josh will be performing at the Oscars. He hasn’t revealed details about his performance with the Los Angeles Master Chorale during the show, which will be hosted by Conan O’Brien.
Josh acknowledged the show sounded impressive, saying he was performing with incredibly talented singers and musicians. However, he added that it wouldn’t be a true Conan O’Brien show without a healthy dose of silliness, and he was looking forward to that part.
