The anime Oshi no Ko has been gaining a lot of attention, especially with its third season on the way, but not just for the story itself. Originally available only on HIDIVE, the show is now also streaming on Hulu and Crunchyroll. Season three will be exclusive to Crunchyroll, and will aim to adapt the rest of the manga’s storyline. Because the manga has already finished, fans are wondering how many more seasons the anime will get, but that hasn’t stopped Oshi no Ko from achieving impressive viewership numbers.
YOASOBI’s song “Idol,” the opening theme for Oshi no Ko, has broken records by becoming the fastest song to reach one billion streams on the Oricon Weekly Streaming Ranking. Although other songs have reached this milestone, “Idol” did so in just 137 weeks, surpassing the previous record holder, “Racing Into The Night.” It took over two years, but earning more than a billion listens worldwide is a significant achievement. With a second season of Oshi no Ko planned for 2026, fans are wondering if any other songs from the anime will achieve similar success.
Oshi no Ko Celebrates

YOASOBI celebrated a major milestone with an interview in Oricon, expressing their excitement at breaking a long-held record. They shared, “We’re incredibly happy! ‘Yoru ni Kakeru’ was the only song to reach 1 billion plays before this, and that inspired us to achieve the same. We’re so grateful to all our fans for their continued support, which made this possible.”
The band reflected on how much their anime song, “Idol,” has meant for their career, expressing gratitude to their fans. They explained that the song introduced YOASOBI to a global audience and led to incredible opportunities, including performances at major festivals and concerts both in Japan and abroad. They are thankful for the ongoing support and are determined to keep improving and delivering even more exciting music. They ask fans to continue supporting YOASOBI on their journey.
The manga for Oshi no Ko finished last year, and there haven’t been any announcements about future sequels or spin-offs. Even if the story doesn’t continue, the series clearly left a significant mark on the anime community.
Wow, Oshi no Ko’s theme song just hit over a billion views – that’s incredible! What are your thoughts on this huge milestone? Share your opinions and discuss it with other fans in the ComicBook Forum!
