Outer Banks’ Lilah Pate Reacts to Claims Against Creator Jonas Pate

Lilah Pate is standing by her dad.

Following reports that Outer Banks executive producer Jonas Pate allegedly yelled at and physically shook a production assistant during the filming of the show’s last season, the actress has now addressed the claims.

She responded to the user, writing with a heart emoji, “Don’t believe everything you see online.” 

Lilah, known for her role as Peeler and previously starring in her father’s show, The Runarounds, made sure to publicly acknowledge him as he finished directing the Netflix series Outer Banks (often called OBX). She shared a video with the caption, “The face of a guy who just finished OBX. A true champion.”

“My biggest role model,” she wrote. “So beyond proud.”

In October, reports from TMZ and People magazine said Jonas got into a heated argument on set in Croatia, allegedly yelling at and physically shaking a production assistant. According to these reports, Chase intervened to separate them, and Madelyn tried to calm things down.

TopMob News contacted Netflix and representatives for Jonas, Chase, and Madelyn for a statement, but they hadn’t responded yet.

In addition to the issues with one of the show’s creators, the cast of the teen treasure-hunting series, set in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, has also had to address reports of conflict. Recently, rumors circulated that Madison and Rudy, a cast member who left after season four, didn’t get along during filming.

Rumors circulated that the actors, who played romantic partners, used stand-ins for the intimate scenes in the final episode because they were reportedly feuding. However, Madison appeared to dismiss these rumors when she shared a photo with her co-star Rudy, along with Chase and Jonathan.

She captioned the snap, “P4L.”

Although it seems there’s only love on the OBX set, keep reading for more celebrity feuds.

In January 2024, Bobby (the second person from the left in the picture) spoke about rumors of a disagreement with Tan (in the middle). This came two months after Bobby announced he was leaving Queer Eye after being on the show for eight seasons.

He told Vanity Fair that he and Tan are doing okay despite a personal issue they’ve been dealing with. He emphasized that the situation is between the two of them and isn’t related to their work on the show, and clarified it wasn’t a romantic matter.

In March 2024, Tan addressed claims that he tried to get his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace Bobby on the show Queer Eye.

Netflix and the production team held extensive auditions. I didn’t recommend my friend for the role, but they ultimately landed it because they were the most qualified. I also want to be clear that I didn’t help them get the part by having anyone else removed from consideration, as he explained on Instagram.

In September 2023, while playing a game called Stir the Pot with her daughter Kelly Osbourne on TopMob News, Sharon said the That ’70s Show alum was the rudest celebrity she had ever met, branding him, a “rude, rude, rude, rude little boy” and a “dastardly little thing.”

He did not respond to her remarks publicly.

Five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that Ashton seemed upset when he was on The Talk in 2014, after she mistakenly said his name wrong.

She remembered him asking, ‘Who are you and what have you accomplished in this business?’ Her response was blunt: ‘Listen, young man, don’t challenge me, because I’ll completely overwhelm you.’ She essentially told him, ‘You have no idea who you’re talking to.’

In August 2022, Cassadee Pope and Maren Morris publicly disagreed with Brittany Aldean, wife of country singer Jason Aldean, after Brittany posted a video on Instagram. In the video, posted on August 23rd, Brittany thanked her parents for not allowing her to transition genders during a phase where she preferred traditionally masculine interests, stating she enjoyed her current feminine lifestyle.

During a 2022 TikTok challenge, JoJo Siwa described Candace Cameron Bure as the “rudest” celebrity, later explaining that she felt snubbed when Bure once refused to take a picture with her on a red carpet. Shortly after the dig, however, the Full House alum apologized: “I kind of broke your 11-year-old heart. I didn’t take a picture with you. Ugh! I feel crummy, I feel—JoJo, I’m so sorry.”

Candace and the other person resolved their differences. However, when asked months later if her network, Great American Family, would ever feature same-sex couples as the main characters in its holiday movies, she said it wouldn’t, explaining that the network will continue to focus on traditional marriage.

Okay, so JoJo – seriously, I adore them – came out as LGBTQ+ in 2021, which was amazing, and they just had to call out this actress on Instagram. Apparently, something she said was just awful – JoJo said it was ‘rude and hurtful’ to everyone in our community, and honestly? They’re so right. It just makes me so mad when people say things without thinking about the impact!

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art of her band, Hole, for a promotional photo without proper acknowledgement. Olivia responded with a simple, “Love u and live through this sooooo much.” Courtney then playfully replied, “Olivia – you’re welcome. My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! I directed the movie for thirteen days, and then Jeff Katzenberg, the producer, told me to go home – that I had everything I needed, he said.

Tyrese recently discussed the conflict with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, telling Van Lathan on The Red Pill podcast that they still haven’t spoken directly, though he hopes to. He mentioned he did talk to one of Johnson’s producing partners, but not Johnson himself.

Okay, so I was basically the one everyone was talking through when it came to the franchise – I was relaying what a lot of people felt. But honestly, I messed up big time by actually saying all of that out loud. It was totally on me. I get it now, it wasn’t the smartest move, and definitely not professional. I should have kept it to myself, really.
