The original Outward, released in 2019, won over players with its difficult but rewarding open world. Now, Nine Dots Studio is almost ready to launch the sequel. Outward 2 continues the team’s focus on a realistic world where you’re an average person, not a powerful hero. While the game will still be challenging, the new Early Access trailer highlights that it’s been optimized to run smoothly on PCs.
The developers of Outward 2 announced their Early Access release date in a unique way – by revealing it to a potato! This playful nod to less powerful computers was showcased in a trailer that ran the game on a basic PC. Despite the humor, the trailer also shared key details about the upcoming adventure RPG. Most importantly, it confirmed that Outward 2 will enter Early Access on July 7th. The trailer also included the PC specifications needed to run the game with different graphics settings.
Outward 2 Potato Specs PC Trailer Unveils Early Access Release Date & Graphics Settings

Similar to the first game, Outward 2 is a tough action RPG where you’ll need to focus on survival. Don’t expect the game to make things easy for you with powerful abilities or enemies that adjust to your level. Instead, you’ll progress by slowly improving your skills as you explore the open world of Aurai. You’ll face dangerous creatures, but also the challenges of a realistic adventure, like managing hunger, thirst, fatigue, and harsh weather conditions.
The highly anticipated sequel, Outward 2, aims to build on the success of the original game with several important upgrades. The developers are focusing on four main areas: a more detailed character creation system, a more compelling story, a more believable game world, and improved combat. A new trailer shows off these improvements, and both new and returning players will be able to experience Outward 2 when it enters Early Access this summer. Check out the trailer below—it even features Mr. Potato!
Following a demonstration of the game at its highest visual settings, the developers showed how it runs on lower settings using a playful “Potato” mode. This highlights that when Outward 2 enters Early Access on July 7th, it will be designed to run well on many different PCs. The new trailer also reveals the PC specifications needed to play the game at five different settings, ranging from the very low “Potato” setting to the high-end “Ultra” setting, with detailed requirements shown in the video.
Outward 2 will be released on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG.com this summer. Players can sign up for a chance to play the game early by joining the Closed Beta test, which starts on May 26th.
