When people think of superhero TV shows, Smallville is often one of the first that comes to mind. Although critics weren’t blown away – it has a 78% rating – it remains a hugely memorable show for many millennials. Spanning ten seasons, the series focuses on Superman’s early life, showing young Kal-El learning to control his powers and accept the responsibilities that come with them, all while dealing with everyday teenage issues. This makes it a particularly interesting and relatable coming-of-age story, and it really enhances your appreciation for the iconic superhero.

Based on the popular manga and anime, Death Note The Musical first debuted in Japan in 2015 and has since been performed around the globe, including in Russia, the UK, and South Korea. Anime fans in London will soon have a chance to see a unique stage version of Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s story, as performances begin at the Barbican Theatre on July 30th and run until September 12th. Interestingly, the production team includes designer Jon Bausor, who previously worked on the stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away.
