Netflix Stealth Adds One Of The Best War Movies Of The Decade

Guy Ritchie’s new film, The Covenant, is now available on Netflix. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim and tells the story of a U.S. Army sergeant who risks everything to rescue the interpreter who helped his unit in Afghanistan. The movie has been well-received by critics, earning an 83% ‘Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. (Note: this is a different film than the 2006 horror movie also called The Covenant.)

James Gunn Addresses The Future Of The DCU Amid Netflix WBD Buyout

According to a Bloomberg report, David Zaslav expressed confidence in James Gunn’s vision for the DC Universe, saying it should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where they watch. Zaslav explained that Gunn and Peter Safran aim to explore various commercial avenues for DC content, not just in cinemas and on HBO Max. He noted that some stories are best experienced in theaters, while others are better suited as streaming series.

The Batman Part II’s Biggest Character Absence Could Actually Be a Good Thing

Despite becoming a key ally to Batman in the first film, Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman (Selina Kyle) isn’t expected to appear in The Batman Part II. The movie saw her investigating Gotham’s criminal side with Batman and seeking revenge for a friend’s death, a quest cut short when her father was killed. While the first film left her future open-ended, it seems she won’t be back for the sequel. Though fans will be disappointed, this might be the best choice for the story overall.

Mason Thames Teases What He’s Most Excited To Explore In How To Train Your Dragon Sequel (And Why It’s His Favorite)

Thames explained that the second animated film resonated with him because it was a strong sequel, particularly praising how it built on the original and the impact of the time jump. While the first film was heartwarming, he felt the second one added a layer of depth and sadness that truly evoked emotion. He believes that’s the main reason people go to the movies – to feel something – and that film delivered that for him.

Netflix is buying Warner Bros. for over $82 billion — including the game studios behind Batman, Hogwarts Legacy, Mortal Kombat, and more

Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery have agreed to a massive deal worth $87.2 billion. Netflix will be acquiring Warner Bros.’ film and television production, its valuable content library, and its entire gaming division.

The gaming division includes well-known developers like Rocksteady (known for the Batman: Arkham series), NetherRealm Studios (Mortal Kombat), Traveller’s Tales (LEGO games), and Avalanche Software (Hogwarts Legacy).

Netflix won the bid for Warner Bros. Discovery after competing against other companies, including Comcast and Paramount Skydance, who were also very interested in the purchase.

The deal still needs to be approved by regulators, but is currently projected to be finalized sometime in the third quarter of 2026.

‘Blue Velvet’: A Must-Watch Secret ‘Wizard of Oz’ Adaptation That Came Before ‘Wicked’

I absolutely adore The Wizard of Oz. It started as a series of wonderful children’s books by L. Frank Baum, but the movie? It really became the gold standard for movie magic, as far as I’m concerned. The moment Dorothy’s house lifts off from Kansas and lands in Oz, you’re swept away to this unbelievably colorful and imaginative world – it’s exactly what going to the movies should feel like! It’s inspired so many people over the years, and I was fascinated to learn that the brilliant David Lynch always considered it his favorite film. It just proves what a timeless masterpiece it truly is.
