Dotemu of Streets of Rage 4 fame and Koei Tecmo kicked off The Game Awards pre-show to announce a new Ninja Gaiden title. Unlike the 3D hack-and-slash series from Team Ninja, this is a 2D side-scrolling action title akin to the older 8-bit Ninja Gaiden titles. Check out the first trailer below.

At first glance, it appears to be a Metroidvania game with side-scrolling elements, featuring combat and platforming.
