Nightdive Studios announced today that System Shock is coming to both Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Originally released in 1994, System Shock was a groundbreaking game that helped create the immersive sim genre. This genre went on to influence many popular games, including Dishonored, BioShock, Prey, and Deus Ex. Its sequel, System Shock 2, was almost as impactful, solidifying the franchise’s place as a true pioneer in gaming.

As a longtime Trek fan, I remember the buzz when Jeri Ryan first appeared as Seven of Nine on Voyager back in 1997. At the 2025 PC Gaming Show, indie studio Cognition unveiled the first trailer for their upcoming 2026 game, Lunar Strike: Bring Down the Sky. Players will take on the role of Bo, a tech-enhanced archivist tasked with saving humanity’s history on the Moon. The Moon is in danger from a mysterious object shown in the trailer, and while there are no enemies to fight, time is constantly working against you. The gameplay focuses on exploring the lunar surface and its buildings while making quick decisions, solving puzzles, and ultimately trying to survive.

This new release on Sony platforms comes about a year after a difficult launch elsewhere. The developers, Asobo Studio, have included all the bug fixes they’ve worked on over the past year right from the start. It’s worth acknowledging the beta testers on other systems who helped make these improvements.
