Richard Osman reveals whether The Thursday Murder Club film will impact writing the books

Steven Spielberg was present during filming because his production company, Amblin Entertainment, is responsible for making the movie version of the popular book. Originally, this project was a very personal endeavor for Osman, who drew inspiration from his mother’s retirement home. The story revolves around Coopers Chase, an elegant estate turned living quarters for the elderly, where four elderly detectives – commonly known as the Murder Club – first delve into unsolved cases from the 1970s before encountering an active murderer.

Why Channel 4’s The Jury: Murder Trial is both timely and important television

The justice system in our country is reaching its limit due to various pressures, one significant factor being persistent underfunding. However, instead of addressing the root cause, there’s a tendency to criticize juries as outdated and inefficient. Juries, which have been around for over 800 years since the Dark Ages, have played a crucial role in deciding serious criminal cases. The suggestion by Leveson to transfer more criminal offenses to be tried by judges and magistrates may seem logical, but I fear it could set a dangerous precedent – leading to a less robust justice system overall.

Today, despite battling travel fatigue, he’s discussing his pivotal role in Sky’s latest pulse-pounding thriller titled Atomic.

The Thursday Murder Club’s Helen Mirren reveals “real chemistry” with co-star: “Pierce is my wonderful late discovery”

This gathering of our tribe was truly enchanting – one of those rare, unforgettable instances in our professional journeys. Ben and I, who began our careers together at the Royal Shakespeare Company, were both driven by ambition and passion. Celia and I formed a strong friendship during our time on Calendar Girls [2003]. I hadn’t worked with Pierce prior to our collaboration on MobLand for Paramount+, but we shared a common background in street theatre before his meteoric rise to fame as the iconic James Bond character. There was an uncanny sense of timing at play.
