Sequel to 29-Year-Old Comedy Is Blowing Up Netflix Chart (& So Is the Original)

In its first week, “Happy Gilmore 2” has been dominating Netflix’s charts, even surpassing the original “Happy Gilmore”. Interestingly, both films are currently among the most-watched on the streaming platform this week. “Happy Gilmore 2” is currently ranked as the top movie on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movies for the week of July 21st to July 27th, with the original “Happy Gilmore” coming in third place behind “K-Pop Demon Hunters”. During its debut week, “Happy Gilmore 2” is estimated to have received around ninety-one million hours of viewership, while the original “Happy Gilmore” garnered approximately seventeen million views. The sequel has also set some records for Netflix and Adam Sandler, including being the most-watched title of the week, securing the No. 1 spot on the English Film List, having the highest opening for any Adam Sandler Netflix film ever, and boasting the biggest US opening weekend of all time for a Netflix film.
