While Paramount+ might not be the first place you think of for new movie releases, it’s the exclusive streaming home for films from the studio after they finish in theaters. Although Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning isn’t available on the service yet, Paramount+ has now announced the premiere date for another big 2025 release. This is a significant addition to Paramount+’s offerings, and it brings what many are calling the funniest movie of the year to viewers at home, potentially giving a boost to plans for a sequel.
Just two months after hitting cinemas, Paramount+ has announced that The Naked Gun, the 2025 reimagining of the beloved comedy series, will start streaming this week. From tomorrow, Thursday, September 30th, the new The Naked Gun movie will be available to all Paramount+ members, and it’s being hailed as one of the best additions to the service this year.
Is The Naked Gun (2025) Really That Funny?

When a The Naked Gun reboot starring Liam Neeson was announced, some people were surprised. However, Neeson has repeatedly shown he’s funny, with memorable roles in films like Ted 2 and The LEGO Movie. He’s also demonstrated his comedic timing on television shows such as Life’s Too Short, The Simpsons, and even Saturday Night Live. The star of Taken is genuinely hilarious. His background in action films and serious dramatic roles actually make him an ideal successor to Leslie Nielsen, who also started as a dramatic actor before becoming famous for Airplane! and the original The Naked Gun.
Beyond that, The Naked Gun boasts an 88% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with audiences giving it a 73% score on the Popcornmeter. The Atlantic praised the film for being able to “provide lots of laughs, and its over-the-top physical comedy really lands.” Viewers also clearly enjoyed it, as evidenced by its A- CinemaScore.
Will The Naked Gun (2025) Get a Sequel?

Now that its run in US theaters is finished, The Naked Gun earned $52 million domestically. Adding the $49.5 million it made internationally, the film grossed over $102 million worldwide. This financial success makes a sequel likely, and could also encourage more people to subscribe to Paramount+.
However, there’s some disappointing news straight from Liam Neeson. When speaking with Newsweek around the time the movie came out, he didn’t seem optimistic about a sequel, stating: “I think it’s a one-off, yeah.” While The Naked Gun (2025) *might* still get another film, that will likely hinge on how well it performs in theaters, as well as how many people watch it online. On a brighter note, starting tomorrow, you can enjoy watching it as much as you like!
